Flashback: Miley Cyrus Performs ‘Walking in Memphis’ With Marc Cohn
Image
Pete Davidson has been very busy these past couple of weeks shuttling back and forth to Los Angeles with Kim Kardashian between Saturday Night Live tapings in New York City, dodging hordes of paparazzi along the way, but he somehow found the time to head to his native Staten Island and film the “Walking in Memphis” parody video “Walking in Staten” with Big Wet, Method Man, and even Marc Cohn, the writer of “Walking in Memphis.”

“Put on my bootleg Jordans and boarded the train,” Davidson sings while dressed exactly...

‘Saturday Night Live’ Review: The Best and Worst of Simu Liu’s Hosting Debut
Image
Another week of “Saturday Night Live” — this time, a slightly Thanksgiving-tinged week — another new host. This week saw Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” star Simu Liu take over things in Studio 8H.

Host: Simu Liu

Also continuing this season’s trend of low-key opening monologues, Simu Liu’s opener relied on one simple fact: No, not the fact that he’s the “first Chinese host on ‘SNL’… to be the fourth Chinese host on ‘SNL’” but instead the fact that he’s Canadian. Which, of course, meant relying on easy — but still, effective — jokes about his politeness. Yes, he buttoned all that politeness with an “I’m Shang-Chi, bitch!” but it was a natural progression.

In fact, “natural” might just be the word that best describes Liu’s first time as “SNL” host. While he didn’t quite drive sketches the way previous hosts have this year,...

SNL Video: 'Walking in Memphis' Gets a Staten Island Makeover — Watch
Image
“Viva Las Vegas,” “Cleveland Rocks,” “London Calling.” Now, finally, New York’s last borough (alphabetically and, arguably, qualitatively) has its own song: “Walking in Staten.”

Saturday Night Live‘s latest country-esque video with Pete Davidson also features Big Wet, who you may remember from another collaboration earlier this season, “Squid Game.” It’s tempting to call it a parody since it’s the music of “Walking in Memphis” with silly lyrics. But they brought in the original song’s writer and singer, Marc Cohn, so maybe it’s more of a remake/reboot/live-action reimagining?

‘SNL’: Watch Pete Davidson Perform ‘Walking in Memphis’ Parody with Marc Cohn and Method Man
Image
In a 4-minute musical sketch, Pete Davidson put a twist on Marc Cohn’s 1991 hit “Walking in Memphis” with an homage to Staten Island.

With “Walking in Staten,” Davidson paid tribute to the bagel joints and pizza places in his native borough while sporting an “I Love Staten Island” shirt.

“Put on my bootleg Jordans and get on the train….yeah we got like 80 bagel spots and every block has a pizza place. Yeah, we’re walking in Staten,” Davidson sang.

But he isn’t alone in the fun: Joining...

‘SNL’: Pete Davidson Sings About Staten Island With Method Man, Marc Cohn & Big Wet
Image
Pete Davidson brought the latest episode of Saturday Night Live back to his hometown of Staten Island with the help of Marc Cohn, Method Man and Big Wet.

Davidson, who previously teamed with Big Wet for the sketch show’s Squid Game parody number, donned “I <3 Staten Island” hoodies and mused about Staten Island’s various characteristics, from the number of pizza restaurants and bagel shops to trash dumps.

The musical number, which parodied Marc Cohn’s “Walking In Memphis,” also featured the original song and Cohn, who was initially reluctant to join the parody number. The sketch then sees Cohn join Davidson and Big Wet also donning a similar hoodie.

They continue to sing about Staten Island’s unique attractions including the turkeys that roam around a local hospital.

Davidson, now with the rest of his musical guests, mused about the the various local personalities, ranging from Chris the...
