Whilst performing on Saturday Night Live (1975) in October 2004, due to her weak, off-key singing voice, Ashlee was caught lip-syncing when the wrong song began playing during her "performance." She did an embarrassed, awkward dance then ran off stage crying and thus created a media frenzy.

Was nominated for the 2006 Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actress along side her sister Jessica Simpson. Ashlee was nominated for her performance in the film Undiscovered (2005), while Jessica was nominated for her performance in Shérif, fais-moi peur (2005). Neither won the award, however.

Married longtime boyfriend Pete Wentz in an intimate ceremony on May 17, 2008 at her parents' home in Los Angeles.
