The Ghost With the Most Gets a Chilling New 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' 4K Steelbook Despite Third Film's Doubts
Image
It's hard to believe it's almost been a year since Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took over theaters. The sequel to the hit 1988 horror comedy was well worth the wait and made a ton of money at the box office. The Michael Keaton-starring Tim Burton film was a love letter to the genre's spooky past. Now, ahead of the film’s first anniversary, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is getting a gothic new 4K steelbook.

Per Gruv, the 4K/Blu-ray/Digital combo pack steelbook features new artwork of Keaton's Ghost With the Most and his number one employee Bob in the iconic Neitherworld waiting room. The inside artwork also features another promotional image of Beetlejuice from the sequel. This is the second steelbook released for the film. The first one was a glow-in-the-dark slipcover edition. Val Kilmer's Batman Is 'Forever' With This New 30th Anniversary Collection
Image
2025 is the year of historic anniversaries. Films like Jaws, Back to the Future, Friday the 13th, and Batman Begins all had major milestones worth celebrating. However, another major DC and Batman film with a heroic anniversary was Batman Forever. The film just honored its 30th anniversary this past summer. Now, DC Shop has left the Batcave to celebrate the film with their new Forever collection.

DC Shops' latest film collection includes three nostalgic items. The first pair of items is centered around the film’s stylish Batmobile. “The Car” BatmanForever comfort colors t-shirt ($27.95 Usd) and sherpa blanket ($49.95) features Val Kilmer's Batman with the Batmobile. The design also includes one of the sequel’s most iconic quotes, “It's the car, right? Chicks love the car.” However, the main star of this main set is the Bat Cuffs bracelet collector's boxset ($120). These replicate the Bat Cuffs that this more colorful Dark Knight used in the film.

Fans of the Dark Knight who never got the opportunity to see Tim Burton's Batman movies on the big screen are in luck... unless they happen to have plans on August 25!

Michael Keaton's Batman Returns With New 1989 Figures
Image
DC is in the good graces of moviegoers again thanks to James Gunn's Superman. The film starring David Corenswet has restored faith in the brand. Not too dissimilar to howTim Burton’s Batman changed the course of that brooding character and company as a whole for decades to come. Now, as DC breathes fresh life into the superhero genre, Burton’s Batman returns with new figures from Mezco Toyz.

A part of Mezco's 5 Points nostalgic series, Wave 2 of Batman (1989) collection includes three figures: Cape Glide Batman, Museum Mayhem Joker, and a Joker Goon. The latter of which is two figures in one. Batman's figure is based on the opening scene, while The Joker takes inspiration from the middle of the movie, during which The Dark Knight has to save Vickie Vale from The Clown Prince of Crime at the museum. These debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and are scaled at 3.75 inches tall.

Glen Powell Explains Why He Turned Down Jurassic World Rebirth Role
Image
Glen Powell would have starred in Jurassic World Rebirth if he hadn't turned down the part. The offer seemed irresistible since he was a huge fan of the franchise.

Powell is no stranger to Jurassic Park spinoffs, having voiced Dave in three seasons of Camp Cretaceous. Speaking to Empire, the actor, who previously confirmed that he was in talks to star in Jurassic World Rebirth, said he made the right call to opt out. "Sometimes you've got to close your eyes and put yourself in that movie, and you're like, 'No, I would not be good in this movie,'" he explained.

Powell was reportedly in talks to play Dr. Henry Loomis in the sequel (Jonathan Bailey's role). "'There's somebody better that's gonna breathe more life into this, or can do a better job than I can," he continued. "And you just have to be realistic about that. Sometimes...

Was Steven Seagal in the running for Tim Burton’s Batman? Some Warner Bros. suits lobbied for him
Steven Seagal
Steven Seagal‘s rise to fame is one of the more interesting stories in Hollywood. Warner Bros – circa 1986 — a bunch of powerful, suit-wearing studio execs are summoned to a studio lunch like no other. They’re set to observe an Aikido demonstration by a superstar trainer named Steven Seagal, previously known as the fight choreographer who broke Sean Connery’s wrist while training him for Never Say Never Again. By the end of the demonstration, mangled stunt men lie on the floor while a blood-stained Steven Seagal walks away with a movie deal.

Seagal made his feature starring debut in 1988’s Above the Law. His look was different from a Stallone or Schwarzenegger, and with his fighting style being fresh and unique, Above the Law captured the attention of audiences. In Nick de Semlyen’s book, The Last Action Heroes: The Triumphs, Flops, and Feuds of Hollywood’s Kings of Carnage,...

'Superman' Soars Past One of the Greatest Batman Movies Ever Made at the Domestic Box Office
James Gunn
While they haven’t met yet in the newly launched DC Universe, Superman and Batman clashed at the domestic box office recently, with director James Gunn’s new film surpassing the lifetime gross of Tim Burton’s classic. It’s less than two weeks old at this point, but Gunn’s Superman has out-grossed the lifetime haul of Burton’s 1989 Batman. Starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson as the Dark Knight and the Clown Prince of Crime, Joker, the superhero movie preceded the DC hits that would take popular culture by storm a few decades later. Batman was a phenomenon at the time of its release, delivering the biggest opening weekend haul in recorded history.

The film concluded its domestic run with $252 million, which Gunn’s Superman has now passed. Of course, Batman’s figures aren’t adjusted for inflation, which is typical of box office analysis. But what this...

'Beetlejuice 3' Gets a Reality Check From Tim Burton
Image
Tim Burton, the director of classics like Edward Scissorhands, 1989's Batman, and Ed Wood, revisited one of his most important creations in 2024 when he released the highly anticipated sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The movie was very successful, grossing $452 million on a $100 million budget, and earning a solid 75% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite Warner Bros. intending to capitalize on the success of the franchise, Burton's recent comments suggest fans should not be expecting another Beetlejuice sequel in the near future. Well, at least, one directed by him.

While promoting Wednesday, the Netflix series starring Beetlejuice star Jenna Ortega, Burton talked to The Hollywood Reporter about a third Beetlejuice film. "Nobody told me. Maybe I've been replaced," Burton replied when asked about Warner CEO Mike De Luca's comments about the development of another Beetlejuice movie. Ortega joked around in response: "Maybe I've been, too. Maybe [her character] Astrid dies and goes to...

12 Superhero Actors Who Were Horribly Miscast
Image
Whenever casting news drops about superhero movies, the internet regresses to the toddler temper tantrum -- sorry, "passionate" -- phase, especially if it involves beloved superheroes like Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman. Who can ever forget the Batman controversy that had Tim Burton fighting for Michael Keaton, only for the public to do a massive U-turn when they figured out that Keaton is a multifaceted actor? Shocker. Yet, a similar cycle repeats itself and plays out online every few years for all our amusement.

Generally speaking, most comic book movies choose the correct actors for the roles. There have been times when the casting just didn't work out, though. It could be a case of the film being a hot mess, the actor not being the right fit for the part, or a combination of both to create the perfect storm. Whichever way, it's unlikely that there are too many people...

When Michael Keaton Admitted He’s Never Watched His Own Batman Films — & Why He’d Rather Leave The Cape Behind

Michael Keaton Revealed Why He’s Never Watched His Own Batman Films (Photo Credit – Instagram)

He was Batman. But he never looked back. Michael Keaton may’ve helped define Batman for a whole generation, but ask him about watching those iconic Batman films, and he’ll tell you he simply never did.

“I know people don’t believe this,” Keaton told Variety, “that I’ve never seen an entire version of any of those movies — any Marvel movie, any other. And I don’t say that I don’t watch that because I’m highbrow — trust me! It’s not that.”

And no, it’s not some ego thing either. Keaton just doesn’t spend much time revisiting the past. “There’s very little things I watch. I start watching something, and think it is great and I watch three episodes, but I have other shit to do!” That’s...

The 15 Best Classic Movies, Ranked
Image
What is a classic? It's hard to define, and definitely overused. How many new things claim to be a "classic," yet fall from favor once the hype train moves on? Classics take time. Once the initial praise has passed and moved onto something shiny and new, we're left with the movies that people still talk about years or even decades later. Sure, many Academy Award winners are now considered classics, but many more are not (check out the worst Best Picture Oscar Winners here). Meanwhile, some certifiable classics never won Best Picture or were even nominated.

For this list we're defining "classic movie" as a film that was made before 1990. Not to make you feel old, but that gives the movie more than three decades to make its case for being a classic. I'll also only be including one director's best movie, lest this list become exclusively Alfred Hitchcock, John Ford,...

15 Major Box Office Flops That Need A Remake
Image
Some say Hollywood is in the business of making money, but it'd be more accurate to say the movie industry is focused on not losing money. With a serious addiction to risk aversion, movie executives prefer to repeat a "sure thing" (or as close as you can get in showbiz) versus trying something slightly different, lest they lose their keys to the C-Suite and their spot at Spago. Thus, the endless streams of sequels, spinoffs, reboots, and remakes. Hey, if it made money once, surely it'll make money a second time. And a third. And a 33rd...

In this filmmaking climate, any studio executive who would greenlight a remake of a box office bomb would probably have their head examined (and definitely get their a$$ fired). But really, these are the kind of movies that are ripe for remakes. Why remake a great movie like "The Magnificent Seven" (2016) when a...

It’s Always Sunny Star Is Officially Changing His Name-And The Reason Is Not What You’d Expect
Image
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphiastar Rob McElhenney is legally changing his name, and it may come as a surprise. McElhenney co-created It's Always Sunny decades ago, and the FX series that began with a minute budget has blossomed into one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time. Now, audiences await It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17, which premieres in early July.

Varietyrecently reported that Rob McElhenney is officially changing his name to "Rob Mac," which he had previously discussed in an interview back in May. His reasoning is that the name Mac is easier for others to pronounce, which will benefit his businesses, especially internationally. He explains, "People already call me ‘Rob Mac’ or ‘Mac,’ obviously from the TV show. It just makes things so much easier."

On Body and Soul: The Evolution of Bruno Dumont
Image
The Empire. The recent release of Bruno Dumont’s The Empire (2024), an absurdist space opera focalized around the inhabitants of a small fishing village in northern France, confirms that the past decade inaugurated a distinct period in the French director’s career. With their unblinking treatment of spiritual subject matter, Dumont’s first two features, La Vie de Jésus (1997) and L’humanité (1999), led many to declare him an heir to Robert Bresson. And while the outsized violence of his next film, Twentynine Palms (2003), drew worries that Dumont might be succumbing to a “tendency to the willfully transgressive,” as James Quandt wrote in his polemic against the New French Extremity, his subsequent work undercut such charges: Flanders (2006) and Hadewijch (2009), both unsparing but more restrained, returned to more familiar terrain, with the latter even featuring a direct homage to the swamp-water conclusion of Bresson’s Mouchette (1967). The appearance of Li’l Quinquin in 2014, however,...

James Gunn Confirms Fan Suspicions About Cancelled DC Projects
Image
When he's not filmmaking or touring to promote his latest projects, James Gunn can be found replying to fans on social media. But his latest interaction might shock many. While it's no secret that Warner Bros. has canceled many projects, including titles connected to DC, the filmmaker revealed that the production company has shelved more superhero titles than we realized.

The list featured some canceled projects, like a scrapped thirdMichael KeatonBatman movie, Nicolas Cage'sSuperman Movie, aCyborg solo film, and a solo Ben Affleck Batman movie, to name a few. His response was short, stating that the user made a great list but added that there's more. Unfortunately, he didn't clarify what he meant by that, but considering the list that the user made,...

Exploring the Controversial Legacy of Meir Zarchi’s ‘I Spit on Your Grave’ [The Lady Killers Podcast]
Roger Ebert
“What about me, Matthew? We were going to be friends. Remember?”

Rape revenge films have always been controversial. Roger Ebert famously called the genre-defining I Spit on Your Grave “a vile bag of garbage” in response to its extended scenes of brutal rape. But fans of the genre—including many survivors of sexual assault—find catharsis and empowerment in films that treat rape as a serious act worthy of avenging.

With graphic attacks that account for nearly ⅓ of the run-time, Meir Zarchi’s 1978 film is definitely not an easy watch, but should it be? And doesn’t this discomfort merely point a daming finger back at a society that views female justice as a transgressive act?

Jennifer Hills (Camille Keaton) is a short story author working on her first novel. She’s rented a country house on an idyllic river hoping to find the peace and quiet she needs to write.

Real Reason Why Michael Keaton Didn’t Want Michelle Pfeiffer in ‘Batman Returns’ Amid Danny DeVito’s Lusty Confession
Image
Before Robert Pattinson stole the spotlight or Christian Bale whispered in a deep growl, Michael Keaton was rocking the Bat-suit in the ‘90s. Appearing in two of Tim Burton’s Batman movies, Keaton packed his films with bat gadgets, high-octane actions, and a bit of behind-the-scenes drama.

Yep, turns out, Michael Keaton made quite the scene during the production of the 1992 movie Batman Returns. Why? Because Keaton was unwilling to cast Michelle Pfeiffer in the role of Catwoman—who Fyi slayed and lowkey turned on Danny DeVito, with her iconic leather catsuit. But what was the tea between Keaton and Pfeiffer that led the actor to oppose her casting?

Michael Keaton disapproved of Michelle Pfeiffer’s casting as Catwoman in Batman Returns

If you thought that only Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is plagued with behind-the-scenes delays and controversies, then you need to reconsider your opinions. Because as it turns out,...

Francis Ford Coppola’s Insane “More Fire” Call Turned the 71%-Rated Film’s Scene Hazardous
Image
Francis Ford Coppola’s never been one to play it safe, but his demand on the set of The Outsiders took things to a whole new level. In one of the film’s most intense sequences, what was meant to be a carefully choreographed blaze quickly spiraled into a genuine hazard.

Crew members were reportedly on edge, and the set turned chaotic. The 71%-rated film still holds its iconic status, but that one moment almost burned more than just the scene.

Spider-Man Star Accuses Disney of Sabotaging 'The Spectacular Spider-Man'
Image
The leading actor from The Spectacular Spider-Man shared new insight into how Disney sabotaged the fan-favorite '90s web-slinger series. The series had a two-season run in the late 2000s on The CW and Disney Xd, but even with all the success it garnered from Marvel fans, it could have been so much more if decisions had been made differently.

Spider-Man star Josh Keaton spoke out on how Disney sabotaged the efforts of The Spectacular Spider-Man during its run on TV. Keaton earned massive praise for his work as Peter Parker in this animated series. However, he saw the inner workings behind the scenes and realized how the show's parent company put forth little effort into helping it succeed.

The webslinger was already insanely popular before he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Holland's arrival in the juggernaut franchise gave fans all over the world the moment that they had been longing for. Jeffrey Dean Morgan Confirms He Was Supposed To Play The Dceu's Flashpoint Batman
Image
2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opened by revisiting the fateful night Thomas and Martha Wayne were gunned down in Crime Alley. However, perhaps the biggest surprise for fans was seeing Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan playing the iconic DC Comics couple.

They'd both starred in Supernatural (without ever sharing the screen) and later crossed paths in The Walking Dead. With two fairly noteworthy actors cast as Thomas and Martha, fans hoped that the planned Flashpoint movie would feature Morgan and Cohan as Batman and The Joker.

In the Flashpoint comic book, Barry Allen creates a new reality after travelling back in time to save his mother from the Reverse-Flash. Among the changes was Bruce Wayne being gunned down in front of his parents. That led to Thomas becoming Batman, and Martha being transformed into a twisted new version of The Joker.

In a new interview, Morgan...

Michael Keaton Committed a Mark Ruffalo Level Mistake Before the Release of His Batman Movie
Image
If you are a Marvel fan, it is common knowledge that Mark Ruffalo is not to be trusted when it comes to promotional stuff. Only slightly better than the ‘mega spoiler’ Tom Holland, Ruffalo has had a history of spoiling MCU films during press tours and more.

If the DC faction has somebody equivalent to Ruffalo, it is the legend Michael Keaton, who starred in the 1989 film Batman. The actor infamously committed a Ruffalo-level mistake when he spoiled the plot of the film a night before the film’s premiere.

Fans Rank 10 Best Dceu Movies
Image
Dceu started out as a largely ambitious idea to replicate the success of the rival MCU. Warner Bros. came up with a decade-long plan to bring to the big screen some of the most iconic characters from the DC comic universe.

While the movies were profitable, the audiences disliked Snyder’s darker take on the characters and it was eventually disbanded with Gunn’s newly rebooted Dcu put in place. While some movies were considered to be disasters, Dceu did give us some timeless superhero hits. Due to this reason alone, fans gathered on Ranker to vote for the 10 best Dceu movies, so, let’s check them out.

10. ‘Blue Beetle’ (2023)

‘Blue Beetle’ was one of the last movies to be released under the Dceu umbrella, focusing on a superhero of the same name. Despite not attracting massive crowds to the cinema it was overall a decent movie with wholesome family...

'I Would've Loved to': Alec Baldwin Reveals Why Tim Burton Didn't Cast Him as Batman
Image
Michael Keaton famously starred as the Dark Knight in both of Tim Burton's Batman movies, and his performance remains a favorite for many fans of the DC character. The role could have gone to the actor's Beetlejuice co-star, Alec Baldwin, but Burton didn't feel he was right for the role.

Baldwin discussed the subject during a recent interview for his brother Stephen Baldwin's podcast One Bad Movie. He noted how his ex-wife, Kim Basinger, has a role as Vicki Vale in the original Batman film by Burton. Baldwin then explained that Basinger told him that she'd spoken with Burton about why he wound up casting Keaton as Bruce Wayne. This was said to be because Burton was looking for someone who'd make a more believable Bruce Wayne than Batman, and the director was having trouble imagining Baldwin such a troubled character.

"Well, back then, he said, he told my ex-wife,...

Alec Baldwin Explains Why He Prefers the Original Beetlejuice After Missing Out on Last Year's Sequel
Image
Alec Baldwin played a major part of the original Beetlejuice film, but he was not among the returning stars of last year's sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The actor did watch the film, however, and he's shared his thoughts, noting how he still prefers the original movie over the sequel.

Baldwin discussed Beetlejuice during a recent interview for the One Bad Movie podcast, hosted by brother Stephen Baldwin. Alec said that he saw the sequel in theaters twice at the request of his kids, who still had only seen video clips of the original film that he was in. Baldwin then spoke about how the sequel feels more "grim" compared to the "innocent" original. The actor was also not thrilled about director Tim Burton putting an "inconceivably gorgeous" woman like Monica Bellucci in dark makeup and stitches to portray the soul-sucking ghoul Delores, the ex-wife of Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton).

"I think that...

Lego Honors 'Batman Forever' & Val Kilmer With New 30th Anniversary Set
Image
There are tons of films celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2025. When it comes to the superhero genre, 1995’s Batman Forever is at the top of that list. The Val Kilmer-starring film from director Joel Schumacher turns 30 years old and DC is going all out to celebrate the character’s second 90s big-screen adventure. This included new nostalgic action figures from Spin Master earlier this year, but now Lego is joining the Bat-Mania with a new set sure to have fans racing out of the Batcave.

The 909-piece set is the Batman Forever Batmobile. This version of The Dark Knight’s famous car has a molded windshield, rotatable wheels, authentic decorations and an opening cockpit. Like the Batmobile in the film, the car appears to feature blue lights throughout to make it as screen accurate as possible.

While not as memorable or beloved as Tim Burton and Michael Keaton’s Batmobile,...

Alec Baldwin Reveals He Wanted to Be Batman – And Why He Lost the Role to Michael Keaton
Image
Whether it was as Bruce Wayne or the Dark Knight himself, Michael Keaton owned the cape and cowl in Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns. Even today, decades later, fans still argue in dimly lit forums about who the best Batman is. Sure, Affleck looked like he could bench press a bus, but let’s be completely honest—he was no Michael Keaton. But now, a recent interview has fans wondering if Alec Baldwin could have done a better job as Batman instead of Keaton. What many don’t realise is that Keaton almost didn’t get the gig. Warner Bros. was basically playing a game of Batman Tinder, swiping right on names like Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner, Charlie Sheen, Tom Selleck, Bill Murray, Harrison Ford, and Dennis Quaid before director Tim Burton swiped left on everyone and doubled down on Keaton as Batman. But guess who else wanted the role?...

Spider-Man 4 Rumor Links Wrestling Star Liv Morgan to Major Role (But it's Probably More Complicated Than That)

In 2002, Randy Savage fought Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. Now, more than 20 years later, another WWE wrestler is rumored to be joining the web-slinging franchise.

Despite Johnson stating that the role was not for Avengers: Doomsday or any upcoming superhero movie, trusted insider Alex Perez over at The Cosmic Circus hinted on X that Morgan was in talks with Sony and Marvel for a Spider-Man project, likely the next Tom Holland-led movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' Is Being Summoned to a New Streaming Platform Next Month, but Not for Long
Image
Netflix must have said his name three times, because Michael Keaton's Ghost With the Most is heading back to the platform. Before becoming the streaming titan it is today, the company was known for renting out DVDs in its signature red envelopes. The first movie sent out back in March 1998 was none other than Tim Burton's iconic comedy-horror classic Beetlejuice, and now, its sequel from last year, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is reuniting with the company next month. Starting on May 6, subscribers will be able to watch the director's long-awaited 75% Rotten Tomatoes blockbuster follow-up, which also stars Wednesday's Jenna Ortega, for a limited time only.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice finally graced theaters in September 2024 after years of attempts to bring the bioexorcist back to life with Paris and Hawaii-set sequels. The eventual final product returned to Winter River to reunite three generations of the Deetz family, including Lydia (Winona Ryder), her mother,...

Spider-Man 4 Casting Rumor Suggests the Return of 2 Major Spidey Villains
Image
Two long-awaited villain returns may finally happen in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While the sequel is expected to have Tom Holland's titular webslinger go up against a new big bad, a recent casting call has suggested that two former foes may play a role in Brand New Day.

According to trusted scooper Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie), Marvel Studios is reportedly casting prisoners for Brand New Day. If true, and the sequel does feature a scene set in a prison, then fans could be treated to an appearance by the only Spider-Man villains that fans 100 percent know are locked behind bars: Michael Keaton's Vulture and Michael Mando's Mac Gargan, the latter of whom becomes the supervillain Scorpion in the comics. Ignoring Keaton's random Vulture cameo in Morbius, which is not canon to the MCU, the pair of villains were last seen interacting in prison at the end of 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming.

‘Light & Magic’ Season 2 Reveals a Secret Behind Ilm’s Revolutionary Mocap/CG of Jar Jar Binks
Image
The second season of “Light & Magic,” about the history of VFX giant Industrial Light & Magic (helmed by “Jumanji” director and former Ilm vet Joe Johnston), kicks off with a fascinating glimpse into the making of Jar Jar Binks in the first of three episodes.

The initial fan response to the character was decidedly negative, whether for Jar Jar’s slapstick humor tone clashing with the other stories within “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace” or for the Gungan’s broad characterization that some critics and audiences found reflected racist stereotypes. Jar Jar hate has softened a little over time, particularly concerning the work of performer Ahmed Best, who beat out both Robin Williams and Michael Jackson for the role of Binks and has now gotten to save Baby Yoda in the guise of Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in “The Mandalorian.” But Best was the first to step into a mocap suit,...

Tadanobu Asano, Tom Hiddleston, and Chris Hemsworth at an event for Thor : Le Monde des ténèbres (2013)
Film Review: Ravens (2024) by Mark Gill
Tadanobu Asano, Tom Hiddleston, and Chris Hemsworth at an event for Thor : Le Monde des ténèbres (2013)
Considering Japan’s fascination with photo books, it is no surprise that the concept of photography has become the basis for local movies a number of times, with titles like “Woman of the Photographs” and “Arakimentari” being among the first that come to mind. Mark Gill attempts his hand in the concept through a biopic about Masahisa Fukase, a renowned, as much as self-destructive photographer whose most renowned work is the titular album.

Check also this video

The movie sets the tone from the beginning. An elderly Fukase, in evident decline, is interacting with a huge black raven, who speaks in English for some reason. It turns out that the raven was always beside him, with him talking to it quite frequently, occasionally even in the presence of others, as his father’s words eloquently highlight later on in the movie. His father, Sukaze, is actually the second focal point of his life.
