‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)’ 4K Uhd Review (Arrow Video)
Image
Stars: Jessica Biel, Jonathan Tucker, Andrew Bryniarski, Erica Leerhsen, Mike Vogel, Eric Balfour, R. Lee Ermey, David Dorfman | Written by Scott Kosar | Directed by Marcus Nispel

Tobe Hooper forever changed the face of horror in 1974 with his film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. It featured mixed reviews with Roger Ebert calling it a “weird, off-the-wall horror movie that’s really scary.” While The New York Times called it “despicable” and “a vile little piece of sick crap.” Whether you loved it or hated it, one thing was for sure: after watching it, you would never forget it!

In 2003, as the original horror film approached its 30th anniversary, producers Michael Bay and Mike Fleiss decided it was time to remake the film for a new generation. Now it’s hard to believe this remake is now over 20 years old, so it’s time for a UltraHD release thanks to Arrow Video.

Hostel TV series starring Paul Giamatti finds a home at Peacock
Image
Two years ago, Eli Roth said that he was interested in returning to the Hostel and Cabin Fever franchises – and within six months of him saying that, we learned that a Hostel TV series was in the works, with Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers) attached to star in the show. It was said that the series would be coming our way from Fifth Season, the studio behind Apple’s Severance, with Roth, Chris Briggs, and Mike Fleiss on board as executive producers. Roth and Briggs are also writing the project, which Roth will be directing, the aim being to reinvent the franchise as an “elevated thriller.” Now, a year later, Variety reports that the Hostel TV series has found a home at the Peacock streaming service!

As Variety reminds us, in the Hostel franchise, innocent tourists are kidnapped by a mysterious group known as the Elite Hunting Club operating out of Eastern Europe,...

'Hostel' Makes Surprising Return in New Peacock Series Starring Paul Giamatti
Image
Fans of the horror genre, Eli Roth and Paul Giamatti have a reason to celebrate today. While that trio may not appear to go together on paper, it's going to potentially lead to seeing one of Roth's more high-profile releases getting to continue its brand of traveling overseas torture on the Peacock streaming service.

Per Variety, the HostelTV series is officially being developed at Peacock, with Paul Giamatti attached to star. The project was first announced in 2024 with Giamatti's involvement, but it had yet to find a home. Roth will write, direct, and executive produce the series, while Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, who have been involved since the original 2005 film, will both serve as executive producers on the project. While plot details are unknown, it will likely continue the franchise's tendency to make audiences fear being hunted as tourists in a foreign land.

While Giamatti's pedigree as a...

Horror Series Based On Divisive Torture Porn Movies Gets Streaming Home
Image
Twenty years after the first film launched the controversial torture porn franchise, a series adaptation of Hostel horror is moving forward and has landed a streaming home. The movie was written and directed by Eli Roth, and followed American tourists in Slovakia, kidnapped by a mysterious group that allows wealthy elites to torture and murder people for money.

Despite the controversy surrounding its graphic violence and gore, the movie was a box office success, spawning two sequels, a follow-up written and directed by Roth, and a direct-to-video third movie, which Roth was not involved with. Roth had previously revealed his intent to develop further Hostel movies, though this looks to be going on a different path.

Per Variety, a Hostel TV adaptation is in development at Peacock, with original creator Eli Roth on board, and Paul Giamatti set to star. Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, who produced the divisive horror movie franchise,...

Eli Roth’s ‘Hostel’ TV Series Lands at Peacock for Development
Image
Eli Roth’s “Hostel” TV series has landed at Peacock for development, TheWrap has learned.

The NBCUniversal-owned streamer will develop the TV adaptation of the horror franchise with Paul Giamatti attached to star. The project hails from Roth, who directed and wrote the first two “Hostel” movies, as well as “Hostel” producers Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss.

Produced by “Severance” producer Fifth Season, the “Hostel” TV series is billed as a modern “reinvention” of the horror franchise, which kicked off with the 2006 movie. The original film centered on a group of American tourists whose trip to Slovakia turns upside down when they are taken individually by an organization that allows people to torture and kill others.

The news comes over a year after the project was reported to be in the works from Roth, Briggs, Fleiss and Fifth Season, with Roth intended to direct the TV show and write the script.

‘Hostel’ TV Adaptation Starring Paul Giamatti Finds Home at Peacock
Image
Peacock is offering a place to stay for a Hostel series project from filmmaker Eli Roth and star Paul Giamatti.

The NBCUniversal streamer will develop the project, which is based on Roth’s mid-2000s horror movies about an underground network of wealthy people who kidnap and torture young tourists staying in hostels. The show, which THR reported was in the works in 2024 (but without a home), comes from Fifth Season.

Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Giamatti, an avowed horror fan, is set to star in the show, though details of his role are being kept under wraps. The Hostel series project is described as a present-day take on the concept.

Roth, who wrote and directed 2005’s Hostel and 2007’s Hostel: Part II, is set to write, direct and executive produce the Peacock project. The films’ producers, Mike Fleiss and Chris Briggs, are also EPs. (A third Hostel film, made without Roth’s involvement,...

Eli Roth’s ‘Hostel’ Series with a ‘Holdovers’ Star Just Got a Spine-Tingling Update
Image
It was reported last year that fans would be returning to the most frightening guest house with a television adaptation of Hostel, adapted from the popular horror film franchise of the same name, and we now have a major update on that front. The series has landed at Peacock for development and is currently being fast-tracked for production, according to Variety. Plot details remain slim, but the show does have a recent Oscar nominee attached.

The series is set to star Paul Giamatti, and it seems that the iteration of the show at Peacock is largely the same as first reported. Hostel will be based on the horror franchise that first premiered in 2006. The original film, directed by Eli Roth, followed a group of college students who take a trip to Eastern Europe. But things go bad when they are abducted in Slovakia by a group known as the Elite Hunting Club,...

‘The Bachelor’ Season 30 Is Shaking Things Up With This Fresh Change
Image
The Bacheloris officially returning for Season 30 with a brand-new showrunner! Bachelor in Paradiseexecutive producer Scott Teti is taking the reins from Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner. Teti joined Bachelor in Paradise in January 2025, and his quick promotion as the sole showrunner of the flagship series signals a shift for the long-running franchise.

As per Deadline, Teti’s appointment comes amidst a restructuring of the show’s production team following Freeland and Graenber’s exit in March 2025. While ABC announced most of its renewal decisions for the 2025-26 broadcast season before May 13, 2025, The Bachelor’s pickup was delayed as the network searched for new leadership. However, given Teti’s hiring, it’s possible that the show will follow its usual production and broadcast schedule, with the upcoming Bachelor season filming in the fall and premiering early 2026.

Before joining The Bachelor franchise, Teti served as an executive producer for ABC’s Claim...

‘The Bachelor’ Star Grant Ellis Says There’s Added Scrutiny and Pressure on Leads of Color
Image
The Bachelor finale played out without a hitch when Grant Ellis debuted his winner on live television Monday night. After revealing their season 29 engagement, Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa appeared as a happy couple on ABC’s live After the Final Rose stage. Sure, there was drama, as one could expect from the reality dating show’s setup where one finalist — this time, the blindsided Litia Garr — nearly always ends up brokenhearted. There was also a twist reveal when it was announced that senior-aged contestants from the Golden Bachelor and Bachelorette will be appearing on this summer’s milestone 10th season of Bachelor in Paradise.

All in all, it was the type of ending viewers could expect from a Bachelor season. And considering the leadership upheaval going on at franchise, that’s a production success.

If you ask Ellis, the 31-year-old day trader from New Jersey says he felt supported behind...

‘Bachelor’ Showrunners Leaving Franchise Amid “Toxic” Workplace Allegations
Grant Ellis in The Bachelor (2002)
The showrunners of The Bachelor are set to depart in the latest behind-the-scenes shakeup at the ABC reality franchise.

Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner are set to leave their positions, which they’ve held since series creator Mike Fleiss left the show in 2023. Their exits come in the wake of allegations that Freeland and Graebner oversaw a “toxic” and “hostile” workplace on The Bachelor, claims the pair have denied through their attorney.

Warner Bros., which produces The Bachelor, and ABC declined to comment.

The hostile work environment claims against Freeland and Graebner emerged in a February Deadline story in which a dozen current and former staff members on The Bachelor accused the showrunners of creating a culture of fear and secrecy at the show and cited incidents of verbal abuse. The accusations came to light soon after ABC announced it would not air The Bachelorette in the summer, leading to...

The Bachelor Showrunners Exit Amid ‘Toxic’ Workplace Accusations
Image
The Bachelor is saying goodbye to some big names behind the scenes: Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner, who have served as showrunners for the past two seasons, are exiting the ABC dating show, our sister site Deadline reports. (ABC and producers Warner Bros. TV had no comment when reached by TVLine.)

The exit comes a month after an explosive report that accused Freeland and Graebner of fostering a “toxic” and “hostile” environment behind the scenes of The Bachelor, alleging that they have run the franchise with “fear” and subjected crew members to verbal and mental abuse. Freeland and Graebner both denied the accusations,...

‘The Bachelor’ Showrunners Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner to Exit Franchise
Image
Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner, the showrunners and executive producers of “The Bachelor,” are leaving the series. They are still at work on Grant Ellis’ current season of “The Bachelor,” which is nearing its end, but are negotiating their exits from the franchise.

Representatives for ABC, the network that airs “The Bachelor,” and Warner Bros. Television, which produces it, did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request to comment.

Freeland and Graebner took over as showrunners in 2023 following the tumultuous exit of “Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss. Having created “The Bachelor” in 2002, Fleiss left after an investigation into allegations of racial discrimination was conducted by Wbtv. Freeland and Graebner oversaw the reality series along with Jason Ehrlich, a perennial on ABC, who left after the first season of “The Golden Bachelor.”

In February, it was revealed that ABC would not be airing a new season of “The Bachelorette” following Ellis’ season of “The Bachelor.

‘The Bachelor’ Showrunners Claire Freeland & Bennett Graebner Exiting Dating Franchise Following “Toxic” Workplace Allegations
Image
Exclusive: The Bachelor franchise will soon have new leadership.

Deadline understands that Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner, who serve as showrunners and executive producers of the Warner Bros TV-produced franchise, are leaving. We hear they are currently negotiating their exit with the studio.

It comes a month after Deadline revealed allegations of a “hostile” environment behind the scenes of the franchise.

It’s been a tricky start to the year for the ABC universe; in early February, Deadline revealed that The Bachelorette would skip a cycle. That decision led to the departure of a number of crew, many who had worked on the shows for years.

Following our report, co-executive producers Michael Margolis, who is Freeland’s husband, and Keely Booth resigned.

Freeland and Graebner are now joining them.

‘Bachelor’ Co-Executive Producers Exit Franchise
Image
Two co-executive producers have exited The Bachelor franchise. Michael Margolis and Keely Booth have stepped down from their roles, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Their departures come amid recent reports of an alleged toxic workplace at the ABC and Warner Bros. TV-produced reality series, of which The Bachelor is one of several series under their umbrella.

The franchise also includes the female-led The Bachelorette, which ABC abruptly put on pause last month. ABC didn’t give a reason, or comment on if or when the female-led spinoff would return, when announcing that season 22 wouldn’t air in The Bachelorette‘s usual summer spot.

Deadline, however, reported that the hiatus prompted many crew members to lose their jobs. A dozen former and current producers on the franchise, who spoke to Deadline anonymously, then accused showrunners and executive producers Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner of running a “toxic” and “hostile” environment. Exclusive: Jenn Tran, star of the last season of The Bachelorette, was in tears, her mother sitting yards away, as she watched footage of her proposing to Devin Strader on ABC’s After The Final Rose live finale.

The engagement hadn’t worked out and was over before Tran was forced to relive that day alongside Strader. It was a decision that former Bachelor star Ben Higgins called “cruel and unnecessary.”

“Do I have a choice?,” Tran asked host Jesse Palmer as he teed up the footage.

It seems she didn’t.

The decision to air the footage was made by Claire Freeland, who serves as showrunner and executive producer of The Bachelor franchise alongside Bennett Graebner. “Claire made that decision to put her in that position and air that proposal on live television,” one former producer said. “Producers were screaming at them in the booth to stop and were ignored.

After 4 Years, Fan Favorite Bachelor Nation Couple Matt James And Rachael Kirkconnell Part Ways

Amid some controversy during her stint on The Bachelor Season 25 — with photos surfacing from her time at Georgia College and State University, where she attended an Antebellum South plantation-themed party — Rachael Kirkconnell seemingly found her perfect match in leading man Matt James during the beloved reality television series nevertheless.

For those who need a refresher, hurt by her controversial past, Matt chose to continue dating Rachael after the show came to a close — as opposed to getting engaged, in true Bachelor Nation fashion — despite the graphic designer receiving the final rose over Michelle Young.

After some growth in their personal lives, primarily in Rachel's personal life, the pair began sharing their travels — as well as their good eats — via social media, specifically TikTok, quickly becoming a fan favorite couple by fans of the Bachelor franchise and beyond.

Because of this, Rachel and Matt's supporters found themselves in tears today (Jan.

Before you ask, she is a social media manager, not a flight attendant.

Let's get into the nitty-gritty details of Bailey's other true love.

The Bachelorettes Aaron Erb Finally Reveals If Book He Gave Devin Strader Is Fake Amid Producer Manipulation Accusations

The Bachelorette season 21 contestant Aaron Erb revealed that the self-improvement book that he gave Devin Strader, Principles for Self-Growth by Dr. Brandon O. Conner, really was fake, as many viewers suspected. During The Bachelorette season 21, Aaron gave Devin a book, which was very similar to the one that his twin brother, Noah Erb, had received from Bennett Jordan during The Bachelorette season 16. However, the book was nonexistent outside of the show, and its author shared a name with a Bachelorette producer, so many fans thought that it wasn't real.

'Bachelor' And 'Bachelorette' Contestants Strictly Follow Sleep-Deprived Schedule Involving Alcohol
Image
The Bachelor is one of the first reality dating shows to come out on TV. Its creator, Mike Fleiss, came up with the series in 2002 following the success of his earlier work, Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire? in 2000. The Bachelorette soon followed in 2003. But the success of the franchise from multiple spin-offs to celebrity fans isn't as glamorous as it looks behind the scenes.

Some contestants even returned to their day jobs after the show. Over the years, the shows' alums have opened up about the Bachelor Nation's "controlled" environment. As it turns out, all that drama was hugely caused by too much alcohol, sleep deprivation, and "stressful" confessionals forced by the producers. Here's what the Bachelor and Bachelorette stars endure off camera.

‘Bachelor’ Team Admits to Franchise’s “Vicious Cycle” With Race Issues, Letting Down Matt James
Image
After The Bachelor’s issues surrounding race were in the spotlight during the ABC reality series’ Television Critics Association presentation earlier this year, the show’s producers are now acknowledging prior missteps.

“It’s hard to say out loud, that people of color didn’t see themselves represented, that they did not see The Bachelor franchise as a safe place,” franchise executive producer Bennett Graebner told the Los Angeles Times in a story published online Wednesday. “We didn’t have a Black lead in this franchise for 15 years, and that’s inexcusable. It created a vicious cycle, and it’s taken a lot of work to get back to a place where we feel at least we’re working for the positive.”

Graebner and fellow Bachelor EPs Jason Ehrlich and Claire Freeland’s sit-down with the publication regarding how the show handles race follows NPR journalist Eric Deggans asking the...

The Hostel TV Show Is Taking A Big Risk (But It's A Smart One)
Image
Hostel TV show takes a risk by changing the tone to an elevated thriller, reinventing the franchise. Toning down graphic content may alienate fans, but attract a new audience to the show. The Hollywood team-up behind the new Hostel TV show has been in the works for 19 years.

The world of Hostel is coming back to life now with a TV show, which is taking a huge risk, but its a smart one that could greatly benefit this new project. The horror subgenre of gore and its branches went through a great run in the early 2000s with movies like James Wan's Saw and Eli Roth's Hostel, despite being quite controversial due to their graphic violence and themes. Also written by Roth, Hostel showed a horrifying, dark, and brutally graphic side of European vacations, inspired by murder vacations Roth once came across on the dark web.
