There's only one episode left in The White Lotus season 3, and the race to finding out who doesn't make it out of the season alive is on. The season's penultimate episode places a number of characters in sticky situations that could put their life on the line in the season finale. Right now, the person who dies could really be anyone.

In The White Lotus season 3 episode 7, "Killer Instincts," the stakes are turned all the way up as Greg hosts a party and invites Belinda and her son as well as the Ratliff family. He has some business to attend to with all of them, including a strange sexual proposition for Saxon (via Chloe) and a shady financial offer for Belinda that's way too good to be true.

What makes a great superhero film? Edgy, in-your-face action? A science fiction-style plot? Funny, engaging, or memorable supervillains? Lately, great superhero films are defined by multiverse crossovers, expensive advertising campaigns, or characters that have been around for over fifty years. What if a great superhero movie existed which possessed none of the aforementioned accouterments?

Many enthusiasts believe the answer is actually more simple than this: it's a unique idea. Although alternative comics have existed for over half a century, many don't get the chance to transfer to the silver screen. With this shortcoming, we humbly offer up several amazing, touching, and utterly unique superhero characters and films you've probably never even heard of.

Paper Man (2009)

Ryan Reynolds portrays a superhero alongside such stars as Emma Stone, Jeff Daniels, Lisa Kudrow, and Kieran Culkin. Directed by Kieran Mulroney, Paper Man follows a has-been writer as he strikes up a relationship with a high school girl.

Based on a true story, The Hill comes from director Jeff Celentano (Breaking Point), who attempts to strike a home run with this baseball tale. Creatively, the bases never feel fully loaded here and there’s never a sense that things won’t get resolved. That the film goes into overtime — literally — is another story. Despite all that, if you can have a little patience, when all is said and done, Celentano does justice to the real-life story of a celebrated baseball player, beginning with his childhood in the 1970s and moving through young adulthood where he was further confronted with his physical injuries and filial strife.

The film, which arrives from Briarcliff Entertainment, stars Dennis Quaid, Joelle Carter, country music singer and songwriter Randy Houser, Bonnie Bedelia, Scott Glen, and Jesse Berry and Colin Ford as Rickey Hill at various ages. It's your typical inspirational fare.
