Jenn Griffin

‘Still/Born’ DVD Review
Stars: Christie Burke, Jesse Moss, Rebecca Olson, Michael Ironside, Jenn Griffin | Written by Brandon Christensen, Colin Minihan | Directed by Brandon Christensen

For Mary, the joy of her infant son Adam’s birth is overshadowed by the devastating stillborn death of his twin brother Thomas. Concerned husband Jack relocates them to a spacious new home in secluded suburbia while Mary makes fast friends with their neighbor Rachel. But fresh faces, new surroundings, and even post-partum medication can’t spin Mary’s haunted motherhood mindset off its deepening descent into horrifying depression. Soon she’s convinced that an otherworldly evil wants to claim her remaining baby for its own…

Postpartum depression is a very tricky subject matter to approach for any movie, not to mention a horror movie. Hell, even doctors struggle to tackle the subject in real life, so when it comes to reel life filmmakers have to be Very careful...

New UK Trailer for Romance Film 'Midnight Sun' Starring Bella Thorne
"This isn't something you can just not tell me." Studiocanal UK has released another official UK trailer for the cheesy romance film Midnight Sun, which is actually a remake of a Japanese film of the same name released in 2006 (Taiyô no uta). The story follows a young woman with a rare skin disease that, if exposed to the sun's rays, she could potentially die so she stays indoors only going out at night. Hollywood took this and turned it into a super sappy romance that reminds me a bit of Everything, Everything, but it also just looks like an eye-rolling sweet story of young love. Bella Thorne stars, with Patrick Schwarzenegger, Rob Riggle, Quinn Shephard, Ken Tremblett, Jenn Griffin, and Nicholas Coombe. Watch below. Here's the new UK trailer (+ new Us poster) for Scott Speer's Midnight Sun, direct from YouTube:...

New trailer & poster for ‘Still/Born’
Postpartum depression is a very tricky subject matter to approach for any movie, not to mention a horror movie. Hell, even doctors struggle to tackle the subject in real life, so when it comes to reel life filmmakers have to be Very careful not only to belittle its effect on mothers, or to turn a serious mental health condition into a excuse to demonise a character. Yet when it works in cinema you get films like The Babadook, Cradle Will Fall… and now Still/Born, from director Brandon Christensen – who co-wrote the film with Colin Minihan (Grave Encounters, It Stains the Sands Red)

For Mary, the joy of her infant son Adam’s birth is overshadowed by the devastating stillborn death of his twin brother Thomas. Concerned husband Jack relocates them to a spacious new home in secluded suburbia while Mary makes fast friends with their neighbor Rachel. But fresh faces,...

Trailer for Super Cheesy Romance 'Midnight Sun' with Bella Thorne
"I'm not comfortable with him not knowing..." Open Road Films has debuted an official trailer for a cheesy romance titled Midnight Sun, which is actually a remake of a Japanese film of the same name released in 2006 (Taiyô no uta). The story follows a young woman with a rare disease that, if exposed to the sun's rays, she could potentially die (kind of like a vampire but without any of the need to drink blood). Hollywood took this and turned it into a super sappy romance that reminds me a bit of Everything, Everything, also about a woman with a disease who can't leave home. Bella Thorne stars, with Patrick Schwarzenegger, Rob Riggle, Quinn Shephard, Ken Tremblett, Jenn Griffin, and Nicholas Coombe. It looks super sweet. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Scott Speer's Midnight Sun, direct from YouTube:...

Comforting Skin (2011) Movie Trailer: Derek Franson, Victoria Bidewell
Comforting Skin Trailer. Derek Franson‘s Comforting Skin (2011) movie trailer stars Victoria Bidewell, Tygh Runyan, Jane Sowerby, Phil Granger, and Ava Hughes. Comforting Skin‘s plot synopsis: “a supernatural thriller that follows Koffie, a lonely young woman who’s desperate need for emotional and sexual companionship draws her into a surreal and ultimately destructive relationship with a shifting and whispering tattoo she has willed to life on her skin.”

Damn does this horror movie look good and somehow it “was shot last spring on a budget of roughly $250,000.” I’m impressed.

On the tattoo special effects in Comforting Skin:

That was done through the use of digital animation and compositing techniques, requiring custom code developed by VFX Supervisor Ollie Rankin.

Comforting Skin also stars Eugene Lipinski, Jenn Griffin, Paul Jarrett, Laura Soltis, John Tench, Stephen Lofstrom, Jesai Jayhmes, Nicola Rollet, and Jared Cote.

‘In Tradition Of Islamic Practices’: Bin Laden’s Body Buried (At Sea) Within 24 Hrs Of Death
Once news broke last night that the United States military had captured and killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, many quickly wondered what would be done with his corpse. We know now that the Us treated bin Laden's body in "accordance with Islamic practice," claims a White House official. Fox News' Jennifer Griffin explains that the U.S. military deposed of the body in a way that revealed they were very conscious of the impact of how they'd handle bin Laden's lifeless body.

Fox and CNN battle over 'human shield' report in Libya
Jenn Griffin
While civil war has broken out in Libya, even the cable news networks are exchanging fire. Yesterday, Fox News’ Pentagon correspondent Jennifer Griffin reported that a British airstrike on a Tripoli compound of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi had to be called off because journalists “from CNN, Reuters, and the other organizations nearby” were invited to the area by the Libyan government and then used as human shields.

CNN (which like Entertainment Weekly, is owned by Time Warner) sent its senior international correspondent Nic Robertson on that media tour and he expressed outrage over Fox’s story when he appeared on...

Fox Reporter Hits Back at CNN for Calling Him Lazy: 'This Guy Has a Screw Loose!'
Fox News appears to be hitting back against CNN's Nic Robertson's attack last night everywhere but on Fox News. Jennifer Griffin, whom Robertson compared to Qaddafi last night, did a number of interviews today in which she responded strongly to the insults. And now Steve Harrigan, whom Robertson accused of being a lazy reporter, is talking to the...Huffington Post. Also read: 'Fox Reporter Hits Back at CNN ... Fox News’ Steve Harrigan Tries To Have It Both Ways Over ‘Libyan Propaganda’
Yesterday, Fox News' Jennifer Griffin reported that pro-Gaddafi forces had successfully thwarted British Air strikes by using Western journalists from CNN and Reuters as human shields. This spawned an angry response from CNN's Nic Robertson who called the report "outrageous" calling out Fox News for "lies and deceit." But last night, while Griffin doubled down on her earlier report of "human shields," she did admit that Fnc had sent someone to gather footage of a bombed compound. This, after Fox News' Steve Harrigan had derided this as "pretty much propaganda." Oops.

Fox News's Jennifer Griffin on Lara Logan: Field Reporting Is Always Risky
Lara Logan
Reporting in the field is dangerous - but the risks simply can't always be foreseen, says Fox News war correspondent Jennifer Griffin. "It is always a risk, but it's a risk for men and for women. There's an element of unpredictability anytime you enter war zone or crowd," Griffin, 41, tells People, commenting on last week's "brutal and sustained" sexual assault of CBS reporter Lara Logan in Egypt. "I've heard a lot of people blaming the victim. 'She should have known better. She already had a brush with the military there.' That's so incredibly unfair," says Griffin. "As a journalist,...
