The release of late actor Amrish Puri’s grandson Vardhan Puri’s film ‘Dashmi’ was originally scheduled for release in cinemas on January 19, in the week of the inauguration of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. However, it has now been postponed to a later date due to certification issues.

The ensemble cast includes Vardhan Puri, Adil Khan, Monica Chaudhary and others.

Shedding light on the matter, Vardhan informed: “On behalf of the film’s director Shantanu Anant Tambe, all the actors, and the technical crew, I would like to confirm that the release date of ‘Dashmi’ has been postponed due to a certification issue.”

“At the moment, we are not allowed to comment on anything, but the new release date of the film will be officially announced once we all have more information.”

Mumbai, March 12 (Ians) Actress Monica Chaudhary, who is known for ‘Apharan’ and ‘Dark 7 White’, talked about her Bollywood debut with Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer film ‘Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar’ and the kind of response she is getting for her role of Kinchi in the film.

Being a huge fan of Ranbir, she also found herself fortunate to get an opportunity to work with him.

She praised Ranbir for making her comfortable on the sets and said: “I’m such a huge fan of his work and all of a sudden he is my co-actor. I didn’t know how to behave or act but honestly, once I was on set, this question didn’t even come to my mind. Because I never felt I’m a newcomer or outsider and they are already stars.”

“Of course, I had that respect that they are my seniors but it was so comfortable.

There has been a dearth of rom coms lately. Moreso, post pandemic with the advent of the Ott platforms with unique subjects and genres from across the globe. Even the filmmakers who used to dish out content of this genre have moved on and it is not just the actors. What could an actor do if one is not offered such films!! It appears that Luv Ranjan has become the flag bearer for making light-hearted comedies with a sprinkle of romance. Someone rightly pointed that the industry sure must have romantic scripts doing rounds, but one film needs to click majorly to turn the tide. The actors need to turn their gaze and put their faith in voices of the new filmmakers and writers who have a story to tell. But the point is who’s going to bet on them if the producers no more think rom com as a safe bet!
