Final Destination 7 in the Works After Bloodlines Revives Iconic Horror Franchise
Image
The successful Final Destinationfranchise, which began in 2000 with the original Final Destination film, is showing no sign of dying anytime soon. Following the success of 2025’s Final Destination: Bloodlines, a seventh film has now been announced.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros.' New Line division will produce a follow-up to Bloodlines, and has hired the film’s co-writer, Lori Evans Taylor, to write the seventh installment of the movie.

Final Destination: Bloodlines wasdirected by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, and co-written by Taylor and Gary Busick with the story by Taylor, Busick, and Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming). Jon Watts would like to work on another Final Destination movie
Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, Kerr Smith, Amanda Detmer, and Chad Donella in Destination finale (2000)
After a 14 year hiatus, the Final Destination franchise returned this year with Final Destination: Bloodlines – and movie-goers were clearly missing these movies, as Bloodlines has quickly become the highest-grossing entry in the franchise. The previous record holder, 2009’s The Final Destination, reached $187 million, but the new sequel has left that record in the dust, pulling in over $283 million. Franchise producer Craig Perry produced the new movie alongside Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts – and now, Watts has confirmed that he would be glad to work on another film in the Final Destination series.

Watts got his feature directorial debut with the Eli Roth-produced horror movie Clown, so it wasn’t shocking when he decided to circle back to the horror genre to produce and write the initial treatment for Final Destination: Bloodlines. Speaking with Collider, he revealed exactly how that situation...

How the Skyview from ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Found Its Sweet Spot in the ‘Silent Take’
Image
[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for ‘Final Destination Bloodlines.’]

The secret to directing the Skyview from “Final Destination Bloodlines” hides in plain sight. But for Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, striking the right tone was as much about the big picture horror as it was the funny little details. The pair met while making Steven Spielberg’s “On the Lot,” a reality competition show from 2007. Now, they’re on-track to deliver the highest-grossing chapter in a treasured 2000s franchise.

“What make the guys so successful is casting that wide net and seeing what they get,” said editor and frequent collaborator Sabrina Pitre. Fresh off another victory with Eli Craig’s “Clown in a Cornfield,” she’s already hard at work cutting Lipovsky and Stein’s next film, “Freaks 2.”

Pitre says the directors’ knack for truly valuing talent is what helped capture so many moments that make “Bloodlines” feel special. Warner Bros. and New Line’s triumphant sequel is a...

The Magnetic Richard Harmon on ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ — ‘I’m Not Bad, Just Drawn That Way’
Image
[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for ‘Final Destination Bloodlines.’]

Mid-way through his conversation with IndieWire, Richard Harmon paused for a passing truck. Already on location for his next movie, the “Final Destination Bloodlines” actor stepped offset in sunny British Columbia to pick apart his performance as Erik Campbell in Warner Bros.’ hit reboot.

Directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, the sixth installment in New Line’s beloved freak accident franchise is the best movie of its kind. It also has one of the funniest and most relatable characters in the series: a magnetic fan favorite Harmon was destined to play but who the actor calls “misunderstood.”

“I’m not bad, just drawn that way,” he quipped on behalf of them both. A testament to Harmon’s kaleidoscopic talent — and a fitting ode to the friendly 2000s faces genre fans once had to loiter in Hot Topic to meet — the hilarious alt sweetheart is a great excuse to quote Jessica Rabbit.

Final Destination: Bloodlines Ending Confirms Fate of Its Worst Character
Image
Final Destination: Bloodlines ending revealed what truly happened to the movie's worst character, and it's wildly appropriate. The brand-new entry of the Final Destination franchise introduced one of, if not its worst character, who was part of the Skyview incident that Iris Campbell (Brec Bassinger) prevented in 1969, and it's none other than "Penny Kid," the kid who threw a penny off the Skyview Tower that essentially helped in kickstarting the opening disaster.

The 12-year-old kid (portrayed by Noah Bromley) was rude and heartless to anyone he encountered during the incident, giving fans more reason to hate him. When Iris and Paul (Max Lloyd-Jones) are inside the elevator, the kid unapologetically stomped his feet on the glass floor, making Iris (who was confirmed to be pregnant) uneasy. Amid the chaos when the incident was happening, the entitled brat pushed everyone aside to get to the stairs first while also smiling after...

Craig Perry
Producer Craig Perry has been guiding the Final Destination franchise every step of the way since the beginning – and with the sixth film in the series, Final Destination: Bloodlines, now in theatres, the folks at Entertainment Weekly decided to sit down for a conversation with Perry in which he looks back at all of the disasters and death scenes in the first five movies You can watch the 40 minute death retrospective in the video embedded above.

Final Destination: Bloodlines has the following synopsis: Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all. It has been rated R for strong violent / grisly accidents, and language.

Tony Todd reprised the role of mortician William Bludworth from Final Destination, Final Destination 2, and Final Destination 5,...

Final Destination Bloodlines Beats Opening Weekend Box Office Expectations With Record-Setting Debut
Image
Warner Bros. continues to dominate the box office. Its latest film, New Line/Warner Bros.' Final Destination Bloodlines, took the top box office spot with an estimated $51 million domestically, per Deadline. The film, directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, exceeded expectations in the U.S. as it was previously predicted to earn between $35 million and $40 million in its three-day opening weekend.

Bloodlines is shattering records as it has had the biggest opening of any of the films in the Final Destination franchise and has the distinction of being the biggest opening for an R-rated horror movie this decade, per Discussing Film. Bloodlines has already earned $102 million globally, with an even split coming from overseas and U.S. box office tallies. The horror film surpassed Sinners'opening weekend total. The Ryan Coogler film, starring Michael B. Jordan, earned $48 million in its opening weekend.

Box Office: ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Opens to Record-Shattering $51.7M in U.S., $105.8M Globally
Image
In a third consecutive win, Warner Bros. is doing scary great business at the box office thanks to New Line’s critically acclaimed Final Destination Bloodlines.

The supernatural horror-thriller pic topped the weekend with a franchise-best domestic opening of $51.7 million, ahead of expectations. Overseas, it earned $54.1 million for a global start of $105.8 million, up from Sunday’s estimate of $101.2 million, thanks to a strong Sunday. Either number was more than enough to successfully revive a long-dormant franchise that was first introduced to audiences a quarter of a century ago. The last installment, Final Destination 5, was released in 2011 and opened to $18 million, not adjusted for inflation. (On Saturday, the pic was only expected to do $46 million to $47 million.)

Embraced by critics and audiences, Bloodlines is directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky. The R-rated title stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana as a young woman who discovers that her grandmother was able...

Final Destination Bloodlines Out to Break Franchise Record With Weekend Box Office Tally
Image
The latest Final Destinationmovie, Final Destination Bloodlines, is giving another horror film, a run for its money at the box office. Per Deadline, Bloodlines, in its opening weekend,is on track to earn $45 million, just shy of the $48 million that Ryan Coogler’s vampire horror film, Sinners, made in its debut weekend.

Bloodlines, via Warner Bros., has already broken a record for the highest-grossing opening day for any film in the Final Destination franchise, earning $21 million on its first day in theaters. There’s a slight chance that Bloodlines could earn as much as $50 million this weekend, but that remains to be seen.

Warner Bros. Sinners, in its fifth weekend in theaters, is on its way to adding another $15 million this weekend after tallying $4.4 million on Friday. Sinners, thus far, has earned just shy of $300 million worldwide, with $225.3 million coming from domestic box office totals, per Box Office Mojo.

Final Destination: Bloodlines Finally Explains The Franchise's Entire Universe
Image
This article contains spoilers for the "Final Destination" franchise, including "Bloodlines."

One of the highlights of 2000's "Final Destination" is how Glen Morgan and James Wong reconfigured Jeffrey Reddick's premise about a boy helping himself and others escape their fate after having a premonition of a deadly airplane accident into a slasher film where the killer is literally Death. Not only did this mean that Death was never personified or ever really seen in the movie, but it also allowed for Morgan and Wong (the latter also being the director) to present each kill scene as a series of escalating mishaps and accidents, essentially turning each setpiece into a Rube Goldberg-esque machine of mayhem. When "Final Destination 2" was made just a few years later, the filmmakers could've simply written a sequel that repeated the premise of the first film, and ostensibly, they did. It's a formula that would work,...

Final Destination: Bloodlines scares up $4.6 million in early Thursday box office totals
Destination finale: Bloodlines (2025)
The horror franchise with the creative kills is back to splatter blood on the big screen. The new entry, Final Destination: Bloodlines, was long in development after the fifth installment. Franchise producer Craig Perry previously let it be known that the film was aiming for a theatrical release in 2025, in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. Tony Todd makes his last appearance in this film before his passing and is joined in the cast by Brec Bassinger, Richard Harmon, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Owen Patrick Joyner, Max Lloyd-Jones, Andrew Tinpo Lee, April Amber Telek, and Alex Zahara.

While Final Destination is a well-established franchise for the Warner Bros. studio, it remains to be seen if it can compete with the kind of numbers that Sinners recently brought in just weeks ago. Deadline reports that Final Destination: Bloodlines would...

‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Review: Franchise Refresh Continues Fun, Creative Deaths And Adds A Familial Twist
Image
You know how this is going to go. Someone has a premonition of a ghastly, freakish chain of events that results in mass casualty, a vision of such tactility that it feels realer than real — and then they come to, mere moments before the real thing begins. Yet, after saving several lives, the survivors begin to die anyway, one by one: also in ghastly fashion, also in freakish, Rube Goldberg machine-like sequences. Death doesn’t like it when you cheat.

It’s an ingenious recipe James Wong introduced with co-writers Glen Morgan and Jeffrey Reddick in 2000, and with each subsequent sequel, there hasn’t been a ton of variation on the theme. Just more and more inventive ways to kill off a character. Final Destination Bloodlines offers everything fans of the franchise have come to expect: a bawdy mix of slapstick humor and gruesome, kinetically charged deaths. But directors Zach Lipovsky...

‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Review: The Freak Accident Franchise Beats the Odds with Its Best Film Yet
Image
The high-rise restaurant disaster that kicks off “Final Destination Bloodlines” has a “Looney Tunes” quality to it that some critics will falsely pin on a single falling piano. Yes, there is a thousand-pound string instrument that comes crashing down several stories before flattening a bratty kid in a bow tie. But that’s just the cherry on top of a perfectly cartoonish opening to the best film this fiendish horror franchise from the 2000s has ever known. Delivering the most visually impressive, emotionally compelling, and quick witted “Final Destination” to date, co-directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein work wonders with a reboot that shouldn’t land nearly as well as it does.

Twenty-five years since Flight 180 failed to reach Paris, New Line’s freak accident series — infamous for its mass-casualty events and Rube Goldberg-inspired kill sequences — returns with an unconventional script written by Guy Busick and Lori Evans. Here,...

‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Review: A Franchise About Death Roars Back to Life
Image
“What it’s about is making things surprising, but inevitable,” the late Stephen Sondheim told D.T. Max in a 2022 profile for The New Yorker. “That’s the great principle of all art that takes place in time.” For a quarter-century, the Final Destination series has operationalized and weaponized the spirit of this dictum to terrify audiences around the inevitability of death. Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein’s Bloodlines, its sixth entry and first in 14 years, finds frights and fun alike in a string of gory kills.

Paradoxically, the film unlocks new vitality within the franchise by largely adhering to a proven formula. Any given Final Destination film plays out like an inverted Mission: Impossible, where a loose plot connects centerpiece sequences of characters narrowly avoiding death. While the peril is similar, a small detail flips the result. Here, the Grim Reaper always wins.

There’s an odd comfort...

Final Destination Bloodlines Brought Someone Out of Retirement to Break a Fiery Movie Record
Image
A world record was set during the production of Final Destination Bloodlines. Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein recently shared how the opening scene of the horror sequel broke the record for the oldest person shown on fire.

"We lit so many different people on fire, including breaking the world record for oldest person on fire with Yvette Ferguson, who did that full body burn in the silver dress," Lipovsky revealed to Entertainment Weekly. "That was the oldest person ever on fire, on camera." Ferguson, a 71-year-old stunt performer and actor, came out of retirement to play Mrs. Fuller in the scene. While Bloodlines' stunt team has reached out to Guinness World Records to officially submit the extreme stunt for recognition, they have not yet heard back from the organization. Check out EW's first-look images of the fiery stunt below.

Between Bail Organa and Baylan Skoll, I hope Star Wars keeps embracing recasting
Image
After the passing of Ray Stevenson and the premiere of Season 1 of Ahsoka, it was clear that Star Wars had a real tough choice to make. His character, Baylan Skoll, was instantly iconic, and it was clear from the season's cliffhanger that there was so much more to tell. However, there was a real question about how to do it. Star Wars had been embracing deep fake technology, and some actors, like James Earl Jones, approved using AI for their voice and likeness before they passed away.

While impressive from a special effects standpoint, there was something about these technological choices that didn't look or sound right. Fans have been mixed on these applications in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Book of Boba Fett.

So, with the announcement of Rory McCann stepping in for Baylan Skoll and the reveal that Benjamin Bratt now plays Bail Organa in Andor,...

Andor season 2's big recast should be an important lesson for Star Wars
Image
It’s hard to believe that there are just six episodes of Tony Gilroy’s Andor left, but as we scooch closer to the events of Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, some familiar faces from the galaxy far, far away are sure to stop by. Andor season 2 has already brought back Ben Mendelsohn’s villainous Orson Krennic to expand the Imperial director’s backstory, while Alan Tudyk is confirmed to reprise his role as K-2So. There are whispers we could see more of Mads Mikkelsen’s Galen Erso, and although the idea of Felicity Jones popping up might be a pipe dream, the fact that Andor is confirmed to collide with the start of Rogue One means anything is possible.

More than just old favorites, Andor has juggled his plenty of newcomers with a starring role for Diego Luna’s titular 'rebel scum”. Standouts like Stellan Skarsgård...

Highways? Too risky. Roller coasters? Not unless a heart attack is desired. Airplane turbulence? Gripping the seat like it’s the last lifeline. Well, Death is back, and this time, it’s playing by new rules. Final Destination: Bloodlines is the sixth installment in the franchise, and it’s not just a reboot or another copy-paste sequel.

The creators have made it clear that this one will be distinct, switching up the formula that made the series famous. If you thought you knew how this franchise worked, think again—because this time, Death isn’t following the script.

Freak Accidents Appear Out of Nowhere in New 'Final Destination: Bloodlines' Images
Image
Final Destination fans, a new slew of images has been revealed, and they are the stuff of our nightmares. In times when everything old has enough nostalgic value to turn it into a sequel or prequel, the new chapter in the franchise, Final Destination:Bloodline, stands tall with its predecessor in terms of shock value and freak accidents.

The new images give us a peek at all things gore that filmmakers (and death) have in store. In one image, Owen Patrick Joyne is crawling on the ground in what seems an attempt to save his life. Another set of images expands on the party gone wrong sequence we saw in the trailer: one image sees a person on fire, another sees Brec Bassingerlooking at us while her background is clearly set on fire. Another very gory image sees flesh peeling off of someone’s ring finger. By the look of it,...

‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Trailer: Tattoo Artist Cleverly Killed by Nose Piercing in Horror Franchise’s Return After 14 Years
Image
Fourteen years after “Final Destination 5” made a bloody splash in theaters, the trailer for the newest addition to the long-running horror franchise, “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” has released just in time for the series’ 25th anniversary.

Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, who previously worked together on 2018’s “Freaks” and “Kim Possible,” are directing a script from Guy Busick (“Scream VI”) and Lori Evans (“Lucky Dog”). This sixth film marks Lipovsky and Stein’s entryway into “Final Destination,” continuing the franchise’s trend of bringing on fresh directors.

The trailer shows a tattoo artist giving a client a painful tongue piercing before giving himself a tattoo. As he works, he doesn’t notice a series of chain reaction that unfolds and ultimately results in his death. A chain from the ceiling falls, attaches itself to the man’s nose ring, gets wrapped around a fan and pulls him up by the...

Final Destination Bloodlines Trailer Features A Tattoo Session Gone Horribly Wrong
Image
The "Final Destination" franchise has proven to be one of the most consistent horror properties around thanks to its highly malleable yet tightly constructed concept (which easily lends itself to sequels that only build upon what came before). Even the "worst" of the "Final Destination" movies is still wild-as-hell and offers hugely entertaining kills, while the best ones have burnt themselves into our collective minds and forever made people switch lanes when driving behind logging trucks. After all, the "Final Destination" franchise is not about a supernatural dream killer or a masked murderer; it's about death itself and ordinary scenarios going very, very deadly wrong.

For whatever reason, it's now been over a decade since the last time we got a "Final Destination" movie — though, honestly, that one just ended so perfectly it would have been fine to leave it there. Fortunately, our long wait is over, because "Final Destination Bloodlines" is almost upon us.

Final Destination 6 Unveils First Footage in Ominous Teaser
Image
Death is coming to collect, and it doesn't like to be cheated. For the sixth time, this concept will be explored in an all-new Final Destination movie.

This year will see the release of the upcoming sequel Final Destination: Bloodlines. Online, an X account launched for the film shared the first teaser, revealing ominous footage from the upcoming movie. The brief video, spanning just ten seconds long, focuses on a ceiling fan moving in slow motion. There's a good chance that this is happening in the moments leading up to some kind of freak accident, though fans will have to wait to see exactly how that happens when the movie is released in May. The clip can be seen below.

This one’s for the fans. â˜ ï¸ Dying to show you more. #FinalDestinationpic.twitter.com/Rv9a0F57xB— Final Destination Bloodlines (@FDMovie) February 2, 2025

‘Final Destination’ Creator Reveals Release Date for Thrilling Fifth Sequel!
Image
The 2000s gave rise to some of the best horror movies and franchises, and one of them was certainly ‘Final Destination.’ The movie was rather unique since it introduced a unique concept: death as an unstoppable force that follows people who escape it.

Instead of a typical villain, the suspense comes from creative and unexpected ways characters meet their fate. Its clever premise and shocking twists made it stand out in the horror genre.

The franchise as a whole ultimately gave rise to 5 installments in total. The sequels had mixed reviews. Some praised their creative death scenes and suspenseful moments, while others criticized them for repetitive plots and lack of character depth. There are only so many movies can that spin the concept and add a unique twist before it becomes bland and boring.

Fans enjoyed the franchise’s over-the-top thrills, but critics felt it lost some originality as it went on.

We finally know when the next Final Destination movie will be released
Image
Final Destination: Bloodlines finally has a release date! Warner Bros. has dated the film for May 16, 2025, after years of back-and-forth during the development process. By the time the sixth film in the franchise is released in theaters, it will have been 14 years since we last saw a Final Destination movie.

The last film in the series, Final Destination 5, was released in August 2011. Final Destination 5 was better received than the fourth entry, with some people feeling it was one of the best in the franchise. Plans for a sixth film were made shortly after, but things hit a development snag amid the Covid-19 pandemic. After that, it seemed like Warner Bros. wasn't entirely sure what to do with the franchise. At one point, it was going to be distributed by its Max streaming service.

But everything is finally back on track, and the popular New Line Cinema film series...
