Idfa unveils 50 Forum titles
Projects range from a film about centenarians to documentaries about renowned hunger striker Bobby Sands, Winnie Mandela, Ratko Mladic and Madonna’s backing dancers.Scroll down for full list of projects

Idfa (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam) has unveiled the 50 titles that will be presented at its international co-finance and production market, the Idfa Forum (Nov 24-26).

At the market, filmmakers and producers will present their documentary projects to commissioning editors from international television stations and other financiers with the aim of completing finance for their documentary projects.

A total of 50 projects have been selected for the upcoming Idfa Forum, including new projects by Heddy Honigmann, Janus Metz and Vitaly Mansky.

The Idfa 2014 programme contains 17 documentaries that were presented as projects at previous editions of the Idfa Forum.

Mike Leigh to be Reykjavik guest of honour

Mr. Turner among first 12 films named in the Riff line-up.

British filmmaker Mike Leigh has been named the guest of honour at the Reykjavík International Film Festival, ahead of its 11th edition (Sept 25 - Oct 5).

His latest film, Mr. Turner, which picked up a Best Actor prize for Timothy Spall at the Cannes Film Festival in May, will be screened at the festival.

Previous Riff guests of honour include Milos Forman, Lukas Moodysson and Jim Jarmusch.

More than 80 features will be screened at the festival and 12 films by new directors will compete for the Golden Puffin in the New Visions category.

Other strands include Open Seas, featuring a variety of recent prize-winning films; green movies, comprising documentaries on environmental matters, in strand titled A Different Tomorrow; Icelandic short films; and a variety of docs.

The Sarajevo Film Festival has announced its documentary competition for 2014.

Themes explored include non-violent protests and civil disobedience (Everyday Rebellion); refugee immigration and growing xenophobia (Evaporating Borderes); a controversial Stalin statue in a small town (The Ruler); Egyptian women in the Arab Spring (Private Revolutions); and It engineers searching for love (Love and Engineering).

Also, the festival will host a gala screening, out of competition, with the international premiere of Mladen Matičević’s My Craft from Croatia and Serbia, about the music, poetry and life of the artist Arsen Dedić.

Idfa 2013 nominations announced
The nominations in the various competition sections have been announced at the documentary festival.

Idfa (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam) has announced the nominees for its 26th edition. Winners will be named on Friday evening in Amsterdam.

The jury of the Idfa Competition for First Appearance will also present an extra Award in memory of Peter Wintonick, who died earlier this month.

The BankGiro Loterij Idfa Audience Award, worth €5,000, and the Idfa Music Audience Award, worth €2,500, will then also be presented.

In addition, the Mediafonds Kids & Docs Award 2013, which consists of € 15,000 with which to develop a new youth documentary, will be presented by a youth jury.
