In addition to being a multi-instrumentalist, Pattirane spoke four languages fluently - English, Dutch, Ambonese and Bahasa Indonesian, and was proficient in Japanese. He was also an accomplished painter, sculptor, and photographer, although he never regarded these as anything more than hobbies.
