Zoe Daniel(III)

Zoe Daniel is an Australian public figure who transitioned from a long and distinguished career in journalism to become a politician. Zoe Daniel was elected as the Independent Federal Member for Goldstein in the 2022 Australian federal election. This was a significant upset, as Goldstein had long been considered a safe Liberal seat. Her victory was part of the "teal independent" phenomenon, where community-backed, climate-focused independent candidates successfully challenged traditional party strongholds. Zoe lost the seat of Goldstein in the 2025 federal election to the Liberal candidate, Tim Wilson (who she had defeated in 2022). There was a partial recount, but the final outcome confirmed her defeat, and she concluded her term on May 3, 2025.

Prior to politics Zoe spent nearly three decades as a journalist for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) from 1993 to 2020. She was particularly known for her roles as an ABC foreign correspondent in multiple postings. She has also authored several books, including "Storyteller," which reflects on her life as a foreign correspondent, and "Greetings from Trumpland."
