Was a member of John Ford's stock company and appeared in 12 of the director's films. Got his start as a screen actor through his friendship with Duke Kahanamoku.

Debuted in films at the age of eight and would enjoy a well-rounded career first as a juvenile actor, then B-movie hero and character player in his later years.
