Suffered from clinical depression for most of her life, which she believes stems from her unhappy time in a boarding school as a child.

In June 2013, Gascoine publicly revealed that she had Alzheimer's disease, at a Beverly Hills gala which was set up to raise money to fight the disease. In August 2016, her husband Alfred Molina reported that she was "in a very advanced stage of Alzheimer's", and had been in a specialist care home for over two years. She died on April 23, 2020 in Los Angeles, two weeks after her 83rd birthday.

Originated the matriarchal role of "Mary" in Colette Freedman's play, "Sister Cities".

Daughter of Francis (1907-1995) & Irene (née Greenwood) Gascoine (1910-1956). An only child.

In 1997, Gascoine was diagnosed with kidney cancer, though the disease was detected early and she made a full recovery.

Won the TV Times best actress award for the Gentle Touch.

Whilst being best known for the television series The Gentle Touch and C.A.T.s Eyes she's done numerous plays,musicals,cabaret and pantomimes.

She first appeared on stage as a chorus girl in Babes in the Wood about 1955.
