He was born in Terceira, Açores Islands (off the coast of Portugal), but was raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Went by the stage name Justin Louis, sometimes spelled Justin Lewis, for the first 25 years of his career. After his Portuguese born mother passed away, he decided to use Louis Ferreira in honor of his family name Ferreira.

Has starred in 12 different television series to date.

Louis Ferreira just happens to have the same name as the character he plays in Shogun, originating in the book, "Shogun" written by James Clavell in 1975.
