Early in her career, she worked several times with Cecil B. DeMille on fairly modestly-budgeted films. In her later years, after DeMille's death, she spoke warmly of him (unlike several other writers), but also said that she regretted deeply that he had been sidetracked into making the colossal epic movies for which he became far better-known.
