In 2014, the first season of Outlander aired and immediately captured the attention of history and fantasy buffs alike. Based on Diana Gabaldons novel series of the same name, the historical drama series has seen continuous success and now already consists of 7 seasons. The eighth and final season will be released sometime at the end of 2024 or in 2025, and a spin-off called Outlander: Blood of My Blood will continue the legacy, even though it will be with a new cast.
With fans patiently waiting for the release of the final season, Netflix makes the wait worthwhile, as it has recently added the sixth season to its platform. Even though each season delivers memorable moments, Season 6 stands out the most and here's why.

Warning! Spoilers about Outlander season 7, episode 3, and the Outlander books ahead.
Outlander season 7, episode 3 introduced Claire and Jamie’s journey to Scotland, but Outlander’s seventh book also described their return to America, in which Marsali has a hand while simultaneously and unintentionally setting up a big Jamie book story. Fergus and Marsali’s move to New Bern was established in Outlander season 6 as a way to keep Fergus busy to let him heal, along with a bigger town for Henri-Christian to live in, as Fraser’s Ridge proved dangerous with the children attempting at his life believing his dwarfism to be demonic. Although Outlander described their life to have improved, Marsali eventually needs Claire’s expertise in An Echo in the Bone.

Warning: Spoilers about Outlander season 7, episode 2 ahead.
Starz’s Outlander season 7, episodes 1 and 2 reintroduced Wendigo Donner and his resolute search for Otter Tooth, picking up after his first appearance in season 5 and one specific story in the Outlander season 4 finale. Despite being remembered for the time he refused to help Claire escape from Lionel Brown’s abduction in Outlander season 5, Donner already revealed at the time that his wish to go home to the future after his trip to the past failed. However, Claire’s past meetings in Outlander season 4 with the Mohawk and Otter Tooth’s ghost unveiled how she already knew much about Otter Tooth and how Donner traveled to the past.
The knowledge Claire displayed in the Outlander season 5 finale made her Wendigo Donner’s target. Indeed, it prompted Outlander season 7, episode 2’s ending incursion of Donner and his men to Fraser’s Ridge, as Claire offered...

Warning! Spoilers about Outlander season 7, episode 1 and the Outlander books ahead.
The return of one time traveler in Starz’s Outlander season 7, episode 1, simultaneously brought back up one of Claire’s worst moments and introduced a considerable variation from the books. While the Frasers and the Mackenzies seemed the only experienced time travelers for a while in Outlander, the fantasy romance series introduced straight from season 1 the notion that other time travelers existed with Geillis Duncan, with whom Claire was accused of witchcraft. Unlike Claire, who didn’t mean to travel through the stones, Geillis not only meant to but went back in time to help the Jacobite cause as she wanted to change how history played out.
Later seasons of Outlander introduced even more time travelers that weren’t related to the Frasers, whose research and commitment to the period they traveled back to hinted at stories more similar to Geillis’ than Claire’s.

In Outlander’s 18th-century timeline where the majority of the proceedings take place, there were hardly any stable societies. As such, plenty of conflicts developed, with different groups all doing their best to ensure their survival. This resulted in the emergence of several ill-intentioned characters.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Never My Love,” the finale of “Outlander” Season 5.
“Outlander” wrapped up its fifth season with “Never My Love,” an episode that includes some potentially polarizing moments, including centering the majority of the action around the kidnap and rape of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) at the hands of Lionel Brown (Ned Dennehy) and his band of outlaws.
Although executive producer Toni Graphia calls this story, and Claire’s subsequent disassociation from the trauma, a “bold choice,” it was one that was in-line with the show’s long-time depiction of sexual assault. Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) have been victims of sexual violence in the past as well. Although Graphia admits she knows it can be “hard on the readers and hard on the viewers” to experience such stories, these actions are inciting incidents that drive the narrative further.
