WWE wrestling legend Yokozuna's popularity in India was very high in the 90's. Actor Salim Khan Ding Dong's villain character in the bollywood movie Gair was named after Yokozuna. He also tried to imitate his appearance.

Following his passing in 2000 at age 34, he succeeded Andre the Giant as the shortest living WWE world champion.
