- His biological grandfather died young in a mid-air collision while piloting an airplane which he owned as part of his fleet at Bell Air Services at the Santa Monica airport. He was a decorated war hero of WWII and part of the Captain Chenault's Flying Tigers.
- His biological grandmother was a nurse during World War II and met Paul Bell, after he had been shot down by enemy fire for the third time. They would later marry and have 3 children. Paul Bell purchased several airplanes and started "Bell Air Service" located at the Santa Monica Airport.
