Wednesday Star Luis Guzmán shaded his former co-star Jennifer Lopez during a recent appearance on Hot Ones alongside his castmates, Jenna Ortega, Emma Meyers, Joy Sunday, and Georgie Farmer.

The actor, who plays Gomez Addams in the Netflix series, was asked to describe his former co-stars in one word during the interview. While he described Adam Sandler as “amazing,” he gave a lukewarm response to Lopez, saying only “okay.”

Guzman, who has had a nearly five-decade-long career, has worked with several acclaimed figures of the industry. As of the publish time of this story, four members of Saturday Night Live’s season 50 cast aren’t returning for season 51, which is set to begin Oct. 4. The departures of Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim and Devon Walker make for the largest cast turnover since 2022, when eight performers left.

Heidi Gardner is leaving “Saturday Night Live” after eight seasons, multiple sources tell Variety.

The news comes amid a shake-up at the NBC sketch comedy series, which this week saw the departure of Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim and Devon Walker ahead of Season 51.

Last season, Gardner was the longest-tenured current female cast member. In Season 49, she appeared in more sketches than any other cast member. She is well-known for her “Weekend Update” characters including the teen movie critic Bailey Gismert and Angel, “every boxer’s girlfriend from every movie about boxing ever.”

Outside of “SNL,” Gardner has appeared in “Shrinking” alongside Jason Segel, as well as “The Other Two” and the Adam Sandler basketball movie “Hustle.”

George Clooney has had to scale back his promotional activities at this year’s Venice International Film Festival for his new movie, “Jay Kelly.”

After arriving in Venice earlier this week, the actor missed the festival’s “Jay Kelly” press conference early Thursday. The festival moderator told attendees Clooney’s absence was due to a “bad sinus infection” and that the star was “very sorry” he could not be there. “Jay Kelly” writer-director Noah Baumbach, for his part, noted with a laugh, “Even movie stars get sick!”

The conference’s moderator also told attendees that Clooney “should” still be able to make an appearance at the film’s red carpet world premiere Thursday night.

Adam Sandler has dabbled in enough dramatic roles that audiences often think he’s more reliable in that genre than his career suggests. After performances in films like Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me and Uncut Gems, it’s not too out of the ordinary to expect Sandler to sideline his comedic sensibilities for a movie. Among the buzziest titles in the main program, known as the Show, are the world premieres of Chloé Zhao’s Shakespearean-set drama “Hamnet,” starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal; Edward Berger’s psychological thriller “Ballad of a Small Player,” with Colin Farrell; and Scott Cooper’s music biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,” headlined by two-time Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White. Fall festivals supply the nutrients for a rich diet of films for the next six months, all the way until Oscar night. Venice launched Wednesday with Francis Coppola paying tribute to his friend Werner Herzog. On Thursday, Telluride revealed its lineup, which plays over the Labor Day weekend.

He’s among the Telluride regulars who return for the summer-camp vibe in the mountains of Colorado. Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy usually throw a party. So does Muppet scion Lisa Henson. Oprah Winfrey is coming this year, even without a film, as are filmmakers Rian Johnson and Jason Reitman.

“Our community is a real community,” said festival director Julie Huntsinger in a phone interview with IndieWire. “And I want everybody to hang out together and have fun and watch.”

This year, Huntsinger wants to avoid the scheduling snafus that led so many loyal badge holders ($780 each) standing in line for hours without seeing the big films.
