Okay, real talk, we’re all pretty hyped for Tron: Ares hitting theaters on October 10, 2025. After 15 years since Legacy, Jared Leto’s stepping into the neon-soaked Grid as the mysterious Program Ares, and honestly? We couldn’t be more excited.
The guy’s built quite the reputation for disappearing into roles completely, so seeing him as a digital being crossing into our world feels like a match made in sci-fi heaven. But here’s the thing: waiting seven more months is torture, right? Lucky for us, Leto’s filmography is packed with performances that’ll scratch that itch perfectly.

Tom Rothman, the CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, recently called out Apple TV+’s Emmy-nominated satirical series, The Studio, for being ‘unreal,’ while his own Marvel project, Morbius, still sits with a disastrous 15% Rotten Tomatoes score.
Rothman, in an interview with Letterboxd (published August 28), answered a question about the portrayal of the life of an executive in The Studio, quipping that,
In each one of those episodes, there is a kernel of brilliant, blinding truth, and that’s what makes great satire. Besides that kernel, everything else is horseshit.

In the past few years, the superhero genre has seen a slump, call it superhero fatigue, dilution of franchises, or simply waning interest. But while some films are saved on the small screen thanks to streaming numbers or by word of mouth, like Blue Beetle, while others get the sheer wrath of fans, like The Flash. Among the latter is Jared Leto-led Morbius, which was a part of Sony’s now-defunct franchise of Spider-Man-based characters, and has now found a new home.

It's been almost a decade since Blade Runner 2049 was released in theaters. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, it is one of the best of the Blade Runner franchise, standing toe to toe with the original 1982 film. 2049's gorgeous cinematography and poignant story defined a generation of moviegoers and heavily struck a chord with male viewers who related to the replicant character, Officer K, a.k.a. "Joe."
While the rainy cyberpunk world dystopia isn't returning to theaters just yet, it's found new life on Amazon Prime Video as a limited series. And, finally, we have an exciting update.

If you were still holding out hope that Jared Leto would return as the Joker, you can stop now. James Gunn made the decision for you. The first episode of Peacemaker season 2 doesn’t just hint at it—it puts a giant neon sign above it: Jared Leto’s Joker is done. Forever. The signs are everywhere. John Cena’s Peacemaker casually mentions he doesn’t like Thirty Seconds to Mars, Leto’s real-life band. Jennifer Holland (Gunn’s wife) agrees with him. Then, just in case you missed the joke, Gunn doubles down with a post-credit scene making the same point. Three digs in one episode. It’s over.

Forty-three years ago, the world was introduced to "The Grid," the special reality within the world of a video game in Tron, an iconic Disney science fiction film about a video game software engineer who finds himself transported into the world of his own video game. This was basically "What if you could enter the world of a video game?" but it was first conceived in the 1970s, when video games were a good deal less sophisticated than they would later become. Notably, the characters drove "light cycles" in the Grid, with the action involving a good deal of striking light effects.

Denzel Washington has officially begun the press tour for his next movie, Highest 2 Lowest, but before the Spike Lee collaboration releases, one of his more recent films has returned to streaming charts only a few years later. Washington stars alongside Rami Malek (The Amateur) and Jared Leto (Morbius) in The Little Things, the 2021 psychological thriller following a sheriff and a sergeant who search for a brutal serial killer who’s terrorizing L.A. The Little Things is streaming on Prime Video globally, where it’s one of the most popular movies in several countries, including Belgium and Poland. The film earned a “Rotten” 44% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 67% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter, but it only narrowly earned back its $30 million budget at the box office by grossing $30 million.
The Little Things is, unfortunately, not streaming anywhere in the United States, but the film is available to rent or purchase on Prime Video.

The live-action Masters of the Universe movie wrapped principal photography earlier this year and is now in the post-production stage, but we're just now getting word on a new addition to the cast.
THR reports that Kristin Wiig will voice the character of Roboto, one of He-Man's (Nicholas Galitzine) allies.
Wiig played the villainous Cheetah in Wonder Woman 1984, but is mainly known for comedic roles in the likes of Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters (2016), and Paul.
Roboto was a robot (believe it or not) who was built by Man-At-Arms to join the ranks of He-Man's Heroic Warriors. The character, who is usually depicted as a male, emerged as one of the most popular action figures in the classic Motu toy line due to his transparent chest and interchangeable arm.

Amazon MGM Studios’ live-action Masters of the Universe has added Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto, the heroic mechanical warrior from Mattel’s classic franchise. The casting comes as the film moves through post-production under director Travis Knight for an exclusive theatrical release on June 5, 2026.
Wiig’s role marks a gender-flipped take on a character traditionally portrayed as male across toys and animation. Roboto originated in the 1980s toy line and minicomics as a Man-At-Arms creation endowed with a mechanical heart, a detail that has often positioned the character as a stalwart ally of He-Man. The production has not disclosed how closely the film will follow that backstory.
The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man and Jared Leto as Skeletor, with Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms. The ensemble also includes Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley, Sasheer Zamata, and others.

The year was 2010. Legacy sequels weren't quite as numerous as they are today, which is why fans were thoroughly excited for the appropriately titled Tron: Legacy. The movie brought the digital racing world back to the screens 28 years after the release of Tron. Even though it didn't make all that much at the box office — $409 million against a $170 million budget — it grew on people over time, and one person that can attest to that is the sequel director Joseph Kosinski. At a Q&a that took place at an F1 screening, the filmmaker talked to Collider's Steve Weintraub and commented about how people are still passionate about Tron: Legacy 15 years later. He stated:
"I just signed a bunch of Tron: Legacy posters in the back. I got out of my car, and there were people waiting with Tron: Legacy posters for me to sign. I signed Top Gun posters,...

Warning: Contains spoilers for Season 1 of Peacemaker.
Plenty of commentators have already speculated as to why multiverse narratives have become so common in recent years. From a creator’s perspective, it permits the opportunity to try out ideas that don’t necessarily have to stick: A whole story could take place in a non-canonical setting, and reset when the characters return to where they came from. An actor can reinvent a character they may have started to find a little boring. Maybe most potently these days, a viewer can imagine what it would be like to step into a world without so many problems — or, at least, different ones. And while multiverses have been so ubiquitous lately that one has to wonder if any ground remains untrod, the new season of Peacemaker figured out how to make this viewer care about one — show it through the eyes of a sweet bonehead who dares to yearn.

It all began in 1982 with Tron, when the idea of being stuck in a digital grid and interacting with programs seemed revolutionary. The original film, led by Jeff Bridges, became a cult classic for its futuristic vision and was followed by Tron: Legacyin 2010, which reached the greater heights of success with an Oscar nomination and the same cult status (even if it didn't wow at the box office). Tron: Ares' age rating has been revealed, and it breaks a long-standing franchise tradition. Directed by Joachim Rønning, the third installment in the Tron franchise stars Jared Leto as Ares, a sophisticated program that embarks on a dangerous mission in the real world.

Tron: Ares, the highly anticipated third installment in the groundbreaking Tron franchise, is set to reach theatres on October 10th – and with just two months to go before that date arrives, the Motion Picture Association ratings board has confirmed they’ve given the film a PG-13 rating and a very simple reason for that rating: violence/action.
The film was directed by Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Rønning and stars Jared Leto (Morbius), Cameron Monaghan (Gotham), Evan Peters (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Greta Lee (Past Lives), Sarah Desjardins (Yellowjackets), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), Hasan Minhaj (No Hard Feelings), Arturo Castro (Road House), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), and returning Tron star Jeff Bridges. It's no secret that DC Studios co-ceo and filmmaker James Gunn isn't exactly a fan of Suicide Squad star Jared Leto. As a result, the odds of the Oscar winner ever playing The Joker aren't just slim, but almost certainly downright zero.
The actor briefly reprised his most divisive role in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Before that, the response to his 2016 turn as the Clown Prince of Crime closed the door on a planned Joker/Harley Quinn movie, and he ended up being left out of Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey.
