Roboto originated in the 1980s toy line and minicomics as a Man-At-Arms creation endowed with a mechanical heart, a detail that has often positioned the character as a stalwart ally of He-Man. The production has not disclosed how closely the film will follow that backstory.

The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man and Jared Leto as Skeletor, with Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms. The ensemble also includes Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley, Sasheer Zamata, and others.

THR reports that Kristen Wiig will be headed to Eternia as she’s set to voice Roboto in the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel. The film wrapped production in June.

Roboto is a mechanical warrior built by Man-at-Arms. The character can deploy several different weapons via interchangeable hands, such as a claw, laser gun, or axe. Roboto has previously been voiced by male actors, most recently by Justin Long in the Masters of the Universe: Revelation series.

Masters of the Universe follows “ten-year-old Prince Adam, who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. Kristen Wiig is set to voice the role of “Roboto” in the upcoming live-action feature film “Masters of the Universe,” based on the iconic Mattel franchise, Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel announced on Friday.

Travis Knight is directing the film from a screenplay by Chris Butler. Plot details are being kept under wraps for the film, which will be released exclusively in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.

Saturday Night Live's Kristen Wiig will be joining He-Man's heroic warriors in the upcoming live-action film. According to reports, Wiig will voice the character, who is traditionally depicted as a hulking (and male) robot, and will presumably be realized with computer-generated imagery. The Masters of the Universe character, a mechanical warrior, will be voiced by Kristen Wiig in Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel’s big-budget and big-screen feature, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Universe, now in post-production, is based on the quintessential toyline first launched in the 1980s and the popular cartoon of the same era, and centers on the character of Prince Adam of Eternia who, thanks to his Power Sword, turns into the muscular He-Man and is imbued with superhuman strength and abilities. With his assortment of allies, he defends the planet from the evil Skeletor and his armies.

Leading the cast are Nicholas Galitzine as the sword-wielding prince and Jared Leto as Skeletor, an evil sorcerer looking for secrets of the mysterious Castle Grayskull.

The year was 2010. Legacy sequels weren't quite as numerous as they are today, which is why fans were thoroughly excited for the appropriately titled Tron: Legacy. Tron: Ares' age rating has been revealed, and it breaks a long-standing franchise tradition. Directed by Joachim Rønning, the third installment in the Tron franchise stars Jared Leto as Ares, a sophisticated program that embarks on a dangerous mission in the real world.

The first franchise installment hit theaters back in 1982, and it was followed by a sequel in 2010. Both of these movies were rated PG for their sci-fi action sequences, and it was previously unclear whether the upcoming Tron: Ares would follow in their footsteps.
