Stephen King opens up about an unexpected film adaptation. He even admits that he "didn't think it was a particularly good story."
Speaking to The Times, the acclaimed author discussed The Life of Chuck, the original novella from 2020's If It Bleeds collection that was recently adapted into a feature film starring Tom Hiddleston. "I didn't think it was a particularly good story," King said before going on to explain the origins of the story itself. "I was in Boston to see a Red Sox game. I saw this guy across the street in front of Walmart, and he had a couple of plastic buckets overturned and he was busking.

Every Scream movie opens with a Ghostface kill that sets the stage for what's to come, and usually winds up being the standout sequence of the film.
Rumored details of the opening scene of Scream 7 have now been shared online (via FearHQ.com), and, if accurate, they reveal exactly which characters are involved, as well as the location of the murders.
Major spoilers follow.
Apparently, the sequence finds a couple (played by Michelle Randolph and Jimmy Tatro) checking into an Airbnb with a sinister history: The house used to belong to one of the original Ghostfaces, Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard). The couple is then stalked and killed by the...

The fan theory behind the identity of Sidney Prescott's husband in Scream 7 has been addressed by Neve Campbell. Sidney is the slasher franchise's longtime final girl. She survived five of the Ghostface killer's six big-screen rampages, Campbell having sat out 2023's Scream VI amid a contract dispute.
During her first scene in the 2022 legacy sequel Scream, a phone conversation between Sidney and Dewey Riley (David Arquette) revealed that she was married and that her husband was named Mark. This led many fans to believe that Sidney had married Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey), a police detective with whom she had romantic chemistry in 2000's Scream 3.

“I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited Scream 7 weeks ago," the filmmaker wrote on social media at the time. "This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare.

As the Scream franchise’s original ‘final girl’ reunites with its original writer, the duo plans to take the slasher films back to their roots.
Kevin Williamson, who launched the franchise in 1996 with the late director Wes Craven and returns to direct Scream 7, recently explained in Ashley Cullins’ new book, Your Favorite Scary Movie: How the Scream Films Rewrote the Rules of Horror, that he and star Neve Campbell decided it was “time to reset” the franchise back to Craven’s original vision of horror.
“Neve wants to go back to the first one and find the suspense and really concentrate on scary and not bloody,” Williamson explained in an excerpt posted by Bloody Disgusting. “She was smart. She goes, ‘This is the time to do it because we’re moving away from New York. We’re going back to Sidney’s life. This is the time to reset a little bit.

Filmmaker Christopher Landon once called “Scream 7” a “dream job that turned into a nightmare,” with the director only staying attached to the troubled production for a few months. In a new book about the “Scream” franchise, Landon spoke out about his exit from the movie — and the firing of reboot star Melissa Barrera.
Barrera, who starred in “Scream” (2022) and “Scream VI,” was removed from the upcoming entry by Spyglass Entertainment in 2023 after posting comments about the Israel-Hamas war. “There was no movie anymore. The whole script was about her,” he said in an interview for the book.”I didn’t sign on to make ‘a ‘Scream’ movie.’ I signed on to make that movie.

The unusual stakes of Scream 7 have been described by one of the franchise's returning stars. The slasher franchise, which features various killers wearing the iconic Ghostface mask, kicked off with a quartet of Wes Craven movies between 1996 and 2011 before being revived with a legacy sequel in 2022, which itself got a New York-set 2023 sequel, Scream VI.
The upcoming Scream 7 is set to feature the return of a great number of characters, including longtime survivors Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), as well as the legacy sequels' twin siblings Chad (Mason Gooding) and Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown), who are the nephew and niece of the late legacy character Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy).
The supposedly dead Dewey Riley (David Arquette) will also appear in some capacity alongside unknown characters played by Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, who previously played the Ghostface killers Stu Macher and Roman Bridger respectively.

After taking on the Big Apple, Ghostface appears to be headed back to the suburbs, according to one returning Scream star.
Mason Gooding, who reprises his role as Chad Meeks-Martin in Scream 7, recently described the upcoming installment as “domestic,” as well as “homely and unconventional,” following the Scream VI (2023) location change from Woodsboro to New York City.

Hackers is perhaps one of the most 90s movies ever as it takes tech-punk aesthetic and computer techno-babble into overdrive. No matter how strange or dated it is, though, it’s still a lot of fun to a cult audience (me included). Not to mention, this movie served as the introduction to Angelina Jolie for a lot of viewers. Blu-ray.com is announcing the release of the new 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray of Hackers from 88 Films. So, first of all — yes, this is a UK release. However, the 4K Blu-ray is region-free for domestic collectors. But unfortunately, the 2K Blu-ray is only Region B.
The new physical media release is set to hit retailers on September 22.
The description reads: “A perfect time-capsule of its era, Hackers is a movie that manages to bring together a cast who were all on the verge of stardom and created a cult favorite.

I mean, Hayden [Panettiere] came back in [Scream] 6.” As it stands, little is known about the plot or approach to Scream 7, but so many returning characters — that is, the departed — could offer an incredibly fun approach.

Scream 4 alum, Alison Brie, is sharing her thoughts on the revived franchise.
While couple Brie and Dave Franco were promoting their horror film, Together, they appeared on the Shut Up Evan Podcast and Scream was brought up. Brie portrayed Rebecca Walters, Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) assistant in the 2011 film, which was the last Scream film directed by horror legend Wes Craven, before he died in 2015.
Franco noted, “I feel like with new Scream rules, even though she dies brutally, we could bring her back,” to which Brie responded, “Yeah, where’s my role in Scream 7?”
Indeed, the slasher franchise has famously brought back characters in hallucination sequences like Skeet Ulrich’s Billy Loomis in Scream (2022). Notably, Matthew Lillard’s Stu Macher, David Arquette’s Dewey Riley and Scott Foley’s Roman Bridger, who all died in previous films, will return for the seventh installment.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence last played the fan-favorite characters Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen, respectively, in 2015’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 2. Seriously, where does the time go? Anyway, since then, The Hunger Games movie franchise has only expanded, spawning two prequels: The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023), which centers on a young President Snow before he rose to power, and now, Sunrise of the Reaping, which will follow a 16-year-old Haymitch as he prepares to fight in the second Quarter Quell. With a star-studded cast confirmed for Sunrise of the Reaping, which is set to hit theaters in November 2026, rumors of a certain Hunger Games alum returning to make a surprise cameo in the upcoming sequel have been circulating online for quite a while now. But could there be some truth to these rumors?...

With the spooky season right around the corner, it’s time once again for horror fans to start planning their various genre marathons. You can't have one without an injection of horror comedy. The king of that sub-genre over the last six decades has been Scooby-Doo. Mystery Inc. has been part of pop culture since 1969 with a Coolsville full of groovy merchandise. Now, as fans wait for the next iteration of the franchise, Scooby-Doo gets a pair of new Funko Pops.

As the calendar page turns from July to August, the looming dread of the back-to-school season returns. But Netflix has the cure for that seasonal angst in the form of its "C's Get Degrees" collection. Debuting on August 1, the streamer has a collection of classic movies centering around "school days, teenage angst, and first-of-their-kind adventures." The C's Get Degrees collection features a number of classic films, ranging from the 1980s, the 1990s, and the 2000s.
The collection's 1980s fare includes the John Hughes classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off, in which the title character (Matthew Broderick) plays hooky for a day with his neurotic best pal (Alan Ruck) and his girlfriend (Mia Sara) for an adventure across Chicago; another Hughes comedy, Weird Science, about a pair of goofball nerds (Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith) accidentally create the perfect, and all-powerful, woman (Kelly LeBrock) via a scientific experiment; and Amy Heckerling...

Earlier this week we shared a sneak peek at the upcoming book Screaming and Conjuring from author Clark Collis that put the spotlight on James Gunn’s horror comedy Slither, and we’re back with another Gunn-themed excerpt from the must-read horror book.
This particular exclusive excerpt is all about James Gunn and Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead, the 2004 remake of the George A. Romero masterpiece that Gunn scripted and Snyder directed. Yes, two filmmakers who would go on to bring very different depictions of Superman to the big screen got their start working together on a classic horror remake!
While Dawn of the Dead is fondly remembered as one of the best remakes from that particular period of time, the initial response to the project wasn’t exactly kind. In fact, James Gunn – who had previously written the Scooby-Doo movie at the time – even received death threats.

You'll often see the scream mask during the Halloween season, which takes you back to 1996, to the first film in the series that started it all. Five Nights at Freddy's gripped gamers, YouTubers, and everyone in between when the first of what would be an extensive and expanding lore was released in 2014. The premise was simple: you are hired as the new security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
The first film of the same name, starring Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, and Elizabeth Lail, received mixed reviews but was an undeniable financial success for Blumhouse Productions. It seemed only natural that a sequel would follow suit, and nearly two years later, we have the official trailer.
