[on "In the City" by The Jam] In my opinion, this is Paul Weller at his best. It's just the sound of an electric, on-fire, angry young man and it's one that epitomised the era.

[on "Rock Your Body" by The Black Eyed Peas] It's one of those songs that wakes your body up.

[on "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" by James Brown] James Brown is the godfather of soul and the singular finest soul singer of all time. I first heard this record in my teens and it very much reminds me of my mod years in the late 1970s, early 1980s.

[on "My Generation" by The Who] This takes me back to the 1960s. It was a period when The Who were astonishingly brilliant. I thought Keith Moon was the finest drummer to walk the planet. He generated an astronomical power behind that kit.

[on "Let There Be Love" by Oasis] I love putting this on when I'm in the car, rolling down the windows and sharing it with the world. When I'm feeling rubbish, this gives me a lift.
