German cabaret performer, opera singer and character actor of immensely prolific output. On stage from 1924 and in films from 1935, often in comic or eccentric roles. He was a popular television guest actor and the German dubbing voice for, among others, Spike Milligan.

Herbert Weissbach was also active in dubbing movies. He lent out his voice to Ray Bolger in "The Wizard of Oz", for Wilfrid Hyde-White in "Battlestar Galactica" or Oscar Polk in "Gone with the wind".

He was able to continue his career during war time and appeared in "Die Rothschilds" (1940), "Kora Terry" (1940), "Frau Luna" (1941), "Frauen sind doch besssere Diplomaten" (1941) and Die Frau meiner Träume" (1944). After the war followed a whole string of well-known movies.

From the end of the 60's there was a great crisis in the German film industry and the cinemas were flooded with sex movies. Also Herbert Weissbach got lost in some of these productions, but beside this work he also got rewarding parts time and again.

In the 60's followed more often engagements for the TV besides the big screen.

His roles were early placed in the field of comic, only seldom he could also impersonated serious parts.

The actor Herbert Weissbach was a very popular support actor for nearly 60 years and he was able to maintain his popularity till the old age.
