Here’s an official trailer for Tell Me Softly, the latest film from Culpables trilogy creator Mercedes Ron.

The Spanish-language YA feature is based on the first novel from Ron’s Tell Me novel series, which like Culpables comprises three books. It’s set to drop on Prime Video in December, two months after Ron’s final chapter of the Culpables triloy, Culpa Nuestra (Our Fault), launches in October.

Set at the fictional Carsville International School, it follows Kami (Alícia Falcó), whose carefully constructed facade is threatened by the return of the basketball-playing Di Bianco brothers Thiago (Fernando Lindez) and Taylor (Diego Vidales). “They’re back,” Kami’s friend says to her as the watch on courtside in the trailer.

Joining Falcó, Lindez and Vidales in the cast are Celia Freijeiro, Patricia Vico, Andrés Velencoso, Eve Ryan and Fernando Nagore.

Bank Under Siege is a Spanish Netflix original that is based on the true events that took place in the city of Barcelona in the year 1981. This is a period drama that unfolds as a robbery takes place in the Central Bank, situated in the city of Barcelona. As the hostage situation becomes tense, the police, the army, and the bureaucrats get involved to uncover the real motive behind the robbery and to find out if there were some other influential powers involved in this. Hence, there are many characters in the show that delve deep into this issue.

Jose Juan Martinez Gomez

Miguel Herran portrays the role of Jose Juan Martinez Gomez in Bank Under Siege, the leader of the robbers that have taken over the Central Bank in Barcelona. He is referred to as Number One by the fellow robbers who have followed him into the bank.

Netflix releases a lot of miniseries every year, and a lot of them fail to justify why they needed to tell their stories in an episodic fashion instead of taking the feature film route. If we take a look at the streaming platform’s 2024 slate so far, Fool Me Once was absolutely atrocious. The Indrani Mukerjea Story seemed like an overlong PR stunt. Baby Reindeer was phenomenal, sure. Eric was so goddamn listless. Ic 814: The Kandahar Hijack seemed like a live-action version of the incident’s Wikipedia page. The Perfect Couple seemed so disinterested in its own story. And then there was The Last Night at Tremore Beach, which spent over 8 hours spinning some elaborate tale and then eventually revealed that maybe all of it had been a figment of its protagonist’s mind. If you liked the movie, here comes the series with the same people in charge, Daniel Calparsoro as the director and Jorge Guerricaechevarría handling the script, offering us this intense crime thriller which is full of rhythm that we liked so much, and that, on the same creative lines, also give us this spectacular action series.

Netflix today unveiled a slate of new Spanish content, including two fiction series and a pair of feature films.

The streamer renewed its popular Spanish YA drama series Elite for a sixth season, well ahead of the series’ Season 5 premiere. Created and written by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, Elite is one of the streamer’s best performing Spanish originals.

Netflix also confirmed three new holiday-themed installments of the short-form spinoff Elite: Short Stories: Phillipe, Caye, & Felipe, premiering Wednesday, Dec. 15, Samuel & Omar, premiering Monday, Dec. 20 and Patrick, premiering Thursday, Dec. 23.

In our first annual Top 50 Lesbian and Bi Characters poll, we asked you to vote for your favorite characters from film, television, and internet shows.

You cast your votes, and now we have the results. Before we reveal the winners, let's take a look at some of the trends that emerged.

Almost all of the characters were from films and television shows that made their debut after the year 2000. A few of the exceptions include Kerry Weaver from ER, and the ass-kicking ladies from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

While most of the characters were from Us productions, a fair amount came from international shows, including our top two characters (from the UK show Skins).

Also notable was the fact that some of your favorite characters, the leads from Xena: Warrior Princess (which ran from 1995-2001) and Idgie Threadgood from the film Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), were never officially presented as lesbian or bisexual.

In 2009, the number of leading lesbian characters on primetime broadcast TV doubled — from one to two.

Out of the estimated 600 lead and supporting characters on network TV, seven of them of are lesbian or bisexual. And of those seven, five of them kissed women last year. And of those five, three of them made out during Sweeps.

Things looked bleak at the beginning of the year, but with the growing trend of lesbian brides getting gunned down or cheating on their wedding days, and the continued trend of bisexual characters only expressing their same-sex attraction during Sweeps, and the loss of Showtime's lesbian drama The L Word, we're ending the year on a downward spiral in terms of lesbian visibility.
