Jackie Taylor
- Founder and artistic director of the Black Ensemble Theater, founded in 1976
- She was nominated for a 1984 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Supporting Role in a play for "A Raisin in the Sun" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
- She and Jimmy Tillman's play, "Doo Wop Shoo Bop," at the Black Ensemble Theater in Chicago, Illinois was nominated for a 1995 Joseph Jefferson Award for New Work.
- She was awarded the 1996 Joseph Jefferson Award for Director of a Revue for "Great Women of Gospel" at the Black Ensemble Theater in Chicago, Illinois.
- She is now Dr. Jackie Taylor, having been awarded an honorary Ph. D. in Arts and Humanities by DuPaul University, June 2012. This precedes the Masters in Education she'll finish in December 2012.
- Jackie Taylor is still Founder and Executive Director, often play writer, song writer, directer, etc for the Black Ensemble Theater, now in the newly built and opened, well equipped and spacious, beautiful facility called the Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center. (novembre 2011)
- Jackie Taylor received an honorary PhD in Arts and Humanities from DePaul University June 9, 2012. (juin 2012)
- Jackie Taylor and her crew are in a new, huge, beautiful multi-million Black Ensemble Theater building with a great modern stage-auditorium, plenty of space for their ever-growing intentions, and plans for another stage-auditorium in the building for developing new talent, their plays, etc. Their community outreach and education efforts are growing also.
