- Alekos Sakellarios liked to do cameos in his movies .
- Sakellarios was one of the most productive Greek screenwriters from the late 1940s until the early 1970s, when several of the major Greek production companies declined or shut down. While he continued writing scripts for films until his final years, many of them were never adapted into actual films. He had trouble finding producers interested in his work.
- Sakellarios was one of the most successful Greek comedy writers of the 20th century, credited with writing or co-writing about 200 theatrical plays and about 60 films. Many of his so-called "comedies" were actually comedy-dramas with several serious or tragic scenes, and topics such as political polarization and civil wars, political corruption and embezzlement, the futility of family feuds, pathological jealousy and paranoia in romantic relationships, and hidden frustrations and resentments in seemingly happy long-term marriages.
