Fox Score a New Writer for Chronicle 2
After scribe Max Landis left the project Fox were busy seeking out a suitable writer for their super powered found footage follow-up 'Chronicle 2'. And that time has now come - enter Jack Stanley. Writer Stanley has been bought in to replace Landis and will script the sequel to the Josh Trank directed original which was released back in 2012. The modestly budgeted original managed to score some big box office numbers whilst still impressing audiences and critics alike so the studio is keen to further the franchise as soon as possible. 'Chronicle' starred Dane DeHaan ('The Amazing Spider-Man 2'), Alex Russell ('Carrie') and Michael B. Jordan. No director has been locked in just yet but Trank certainly won't be returning as he'll be too busy with his reboot of 'The Fantastic Four'....

Watch MovieWeb's Brian Gallagher Get Bloody for Carrie
Chloë Grace Moretz
During a press event for Carrie, which is now available on Blu-ray and DVD, our own Brian Gallagher was invited to a Hollywood studio where a bucket of fake blood was dumped on his head, just like the iconic scene in the horror remake. Obviously, his acting skills aren't nearly as good as Chloe Moretz's, but you can take a look to see his reaction as the blood is literally spilled. You can also clickHere to read our interview with director Kimberly Peirce, and take a look at the special features details below.

Carrie is a reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloe Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

Exclusive: Director Kimberly Peirce Talks Carrie
Kimberly Peirce
Earlier this week, I was invited to a special press event where I got to chat with director Kimberly Peirce about her horror remake Carrie, which recently took home the People's Choice Award for Best Horror Movie, and is currently avaialable on Blu-ray and DVD. However, the interview wasn't the only thing on the agenda.

Even if you haven't seen this remake yet, you likely know that the "blood dump" is one of the most iconic moments from Brian De Palma's original Carrie, and the scene is just as memorable in the remake, which centers on a tormented high school girl (Chloe Moretz) who discovers her telekinetic abilities. To celebrate the Blu-ray and DVD release, Fox Home Entertainment invited me to get a bucket of blood dumped on me. How could I pass up such an offer? So, before you check out my exclusive interview with Kimberly Peirce, where...

Judy Greer
'Carrie' - performances strike a chord (Ians Movie Review)
Judy Greer
Film: "Carrie"; Cast: Chloë Grace Moretz, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort, Julianne Moore, and Barry Shabaka Henley; Director: Kimberley Peirce; Rating: ***

"Carrie" is a mother-daughter bonding film. It is packed with unusual expressive intensity and effective heart-breaking character arcs.

Director Kimberley Peirce's "Carrie" hooks you from the first frame itself with the cries of a heavily pregnant Margret fervently praying to her almighty to protect her in the hour of her need, followed by the safe unaided delivery of her child. But then the use of the unsterilised scissors purported to cut the umbilical cord offers a tinge of classic horror that ignites pathos for the innocent.

New Carrie 2013 Movie Served Up Major Drama,Thrills,& More
New Carrie 2013 movie served up major drama, thrills,& more. Screen Gems (Sony) released their new horror/thriller, remake flick, "Carrie" into theaters this weekend. It stars: Chloë Grace Moretz, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort, and Julianne Moore. In the new flick, character Carrie (Cloe Grace Moretz) is an extremely odd girl that is seen as an outcast by all her castmates at school. This is due in part to her being extremely sheltered by her deeply religious and whacked out mother, played by (Juliane Moore). Carrie eventually gets terrified after having her period at school, and get made fun of by all the girls in the locker room when they realize she didn't know what a period is. From there, the girls get majorly punished for doing it,...

Carrie - first look review
Kimberly Peirce puts new tech bells and whistles on Stephen King's bullied teen horror but she still winds up copying from Brian de Palma's book

Carrie White's terrible prom and its violent conclusion are so indelible in pop culture they no longer count as spoilers; the latest take on the story has her bloodstained dress and crazed eyes right there on the poster.

But instead of taking pleasure in toying with and subverting a pop culture icon, Kimberly Peirce's new adaptation of Carrie is surprisingly slavish to Brian De Palma's 1976 take. Touches of wit and insight enliven the first half, but Carrie eventually devolves into lackluster modern horror cliches for a souped-up version of the famous finale.

As the sheltered and abused Carrie, Chloe Grace Moretz is an enormous and sometimes welcome change from Sissy Spacek, though she's cringingly unbelievable in the key early scene...

'Carrie' Review: The 10 Most Horrific, Parent-Shocking Moments
Kimberly Peirce's new adaptation of "Carrie" is updated for the social media savvy Generation Z, but it's not exactly a revolutionary take on Stephen King's source material. If anything, it's even slightly more faithful to the book than Brian De Palma's classic (and still definitive) 1976 version, although with a decidedly more feminist lens. Starring Chloe Moretz as the titular misfit with telekinetic abilities; Julianne Moore as her devout and abusive mother; and Judy Greer as the sympathetic gym teacher Ms. Desjardin, "Carrie" is a bloody, upsetting horror film that at the very least will make older teens think twice about bullying a classmate.

The horror movie is rated R for "bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexual content," but in case you're on the fence about whether your teen is ready for it, here are 10 of the most shocking moments.

Spoilers Ahead

1. The Opening Scene: Staying faithful to the book,...

Interview: Talking ‘Carrie’ With the Cast
Carrie directed by Kimberly Peirce is a re-imagining of the classic horror tale of Stephen King’s best selling novel about Carrie White (Chloe Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Kimberly was it a bit scary to take on a project that was so iconic for people?

Kimberly Peirce: It was overwhelmingly challenging but it’s also a place in my arc where I don’t mind going, same thing when I was writing about Stop Loss. My brother was fighting in Iraq and it was killing me and people were dying and I thought if I’m going to write about this I better know...

New Carrie Clip Warns Julianne Moore, Plus Creepy New Photos
With its Halloween-ready release date quickly approaching, Screen Gems’ update of the Brian de Palma classic Carrie has been busy setting the internet ablaze with lots of new clips and photos, most highlighting the performances of teen star Chloe Moretz, as the titular telekinetic teen, and Julianne Moore, as her wacked-out fundamentalist mother.

The newest clip from the Kimberley Peirce-directed film shows Carrie happily preparing for prom before utilizing her newly-discovering abilities to finally stand up to her abusive, manipulative mother.

Check it out right here, courtesy of IGN:

Buzz surrounding the remake has been generally divided, with some moviegoers questioning the need for another Carrie and others growing increasingly excited to see a modernized take on the story. Carrie Goes to the Prom in a New Clip
Chloe Moretz is all grown up and shedding her Hit-Girl roots for a little paranormal hijinks in Kimberly Peirce’s remake of “Carrie”, based on the Stephen King book about a very deadly teenager with very deadly powers. Julianne Moore is her mother, who isn’t all too happy that her daughter has a male suitor and is going to the prom. Probably because she never went to the prom. Or something. Or maybe she’s just nuts. Check out a second clip from “Carrie” below. Lots of closet work going on in this movie… A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Take a look, but be warned that everything below the video will contain heavy spoilers involving the blood-drenched climax, so read on at your own risk....

A Very Aware reader recently attended a test screening of the Carrie remake, directed by Kimberly Peirce, and revealed that the audience was shown four separate endings.

"Four different endings were shown to us. They said that there is a fifth but they held back from showing it so that they could have a surprise ending if test audiences really didn't like the others that were shown to us.

New International Poster, Photos for Carrie remake!
We have new images in from the Carrie remake, and also a poster is very similar to the first poster we added for the Screen Gems horror remake which opens November 8th. Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass films, Let Me In) and Julianne Moore star where Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie starred in the original 1976 film. This really does look like an eerie film, judging from the trailer. Also on board the cast are Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Gabrielle Wilde, Alex Russell, Michelle Nolden, Max Toppline and Cynthia Preston. Carrie is based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, and helmed by Kimberly Peirce from the script by Lawrence D. Cohen and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

For those unfamiliar with the story, it centers on a bullied teenage girl (played by Chloe Grace Moretz) who discovers she has telekinetic powers, and decides to dish out retribution against her tormentors including her abusive mother (played by Julianne Moore). This clip features a few of the hallmarks from Brian De Palma’s original film, as we see Moore’s character locked young Carrie up in the closet, which is adorned with religious imagery. This is Peirce’s first foray into the horror genre, and I’m very interested to see her take on the material. Hit the jump to watch the clip, and if you missed any of my set visit coverage be sure to check out 25 things to know and my interviews with Moretz, Peirce, and Judy Greer.
