His mother was shot and killed instantly at her home when she stepped between her husband and another man in 1924.

His stepfather was run down and killed by a streetcar in 1925.

Charlie was the voice of Aesop in the Rocky and Bullwinkle series of the 60s. Always trying to inspire his son, Aesop Jr with his wisdom, his wisecracking son stole the show at the end. Junior was voiced by the legendary Daws Butler. They were quite a team.
