Despite reliable sources claiming that The Batman star Robert Pattinson would make an appearance as the Dark Knight in The Penguin, Gotham's Caped Crusader was nowhere to be seen. The closest we came to a hint that Batman was at least starting to view Oz Cobb as a problem was the finale's closing shot of the Bat-signal illuminating the night sky.
Showrunner Lauren LeFranc has already confirmed that she had early discussions with Matt Reeves about bringing Pattinson in for a cameo, and has now further explained why they ultimately decided against it.
"Matt and I talked about it a lot. It just didn’t feel necessary," LeFranc tells THR. "It felt like we’d be wrenching him in just to say we had The Batman in our show, when in reality, I feel like my goal at least was always to create rich enough, compelling characters that you...

John Turturro played ruthless Gotham City mob boss Carmine Falcone in The Batman, but he didn't reprise the role for HBO's The Penguin spin-off series, with Mark Strong taking over as a younger version of the character.
Showrunner Lauren LeFranc said that the decision to recast the role simply came down to a scheduling conflict when asked about the change-up during a 2024 interview.
"Well, practically, John was just unavailable to us. He had scheduling conflicts, and we couldn't make it work, but honestly, I'm so thrilled that we brought Mark Strong on. I think he's really good. Even though, maybe in the beginning when you first meet him, you might think, 'Oh. Well, for fans of The Batman, I'm so used to John Turturro,' and obviously John's a great actor, but I feel like the gravitas that Mark brings, it's different," she added. Redemption arcs in American cinema are often personal, self-contained affairs. A man wrongs his family; he must win them back. In Site, we are presented with just such a specimen: Neil (Jake McLaughlin), a property inspector whose life is, to put it mildly, a shambles.
Separated from his wife, Elena (Arielle Kebbell), and failing in his duties to their son, Wiley, he is the very picture of mundane regret. That is, until his work takes him to an abandoned government facility. There, a strange, glowing machine does what such machines always do: it breaks things.
In this case, it breaks the barrier between Neil’s drab present and a horrific past, plaguing him with visions of historical atrocities. The film thus presents itself as a work of domestic-metaphysical horror, a story about fixing a marriage that is suddenly, inexplicably entangled with the darkest corners of human history.

Taron Egerton recently opened up about the possibility of a sequel to his hit 2024 thriller Carry-On, and it sounds like fans might not want to get their hopes up.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Egerton explained that making Carry-On 2 would be tricky without losing the magic of the original. “Carry-On 2 is really hard. It’s a celebration of Christmas and a celebration of people who work at Christmas. It then needs to have this huge plot that needs to be foiled and maybe the earwig component. All of that is quite hard to achieve in a sequel without it feeling contrived and to the point of defying credulity. So I have not heard anything, but who knows, stranger things have happened,” he said.

Halfway through “Site” (2025), reporter Naomi (Miki Ishikawa) talks about generational trauma, and how it can haunt bloodlines over decades. This sort of traumatic mirroring isn’t unheard of, where our genes store latent memories without our minds fully comprehending their nature. This is the crux of “Site,” Jason Eric Perlman’s latest sci-fi thriller that employs time distortion and particle acceleration to dissect the most uncomfortable interpretation of this sentiment.
The results are a mixed bag, but Perlman’s knack for capturing dread while oscillating between the eerie and the mundane shines brighter than any narrative flaws. This is the kind of slow-burn horror that we need more of, where its high-brow premise doesn’t shy away from being ballsy or ambitious enough when it comes to unraveling the central conceit.

Many fans of "Reacher" might not have been all that familiar with series star Alan Ritchson prior to the show's debut. If so, it certainly wasn't down to a lack of projects on the actor's résumé. Ritchson really broke through by playing Jack Reacher and, as such, must have seemed to some as if he'd come out of nowhere to play the bulky ex-military policeman. But the man has actually been toiling away since the early 2000s.
In his now two-decade career, Ritchson has appeared on screens both big and small in a variety of projects, including "Above the Shadows" (an overlooked Mma movie that's now streaming on Prime Video), multiple seasons playing Hank Hall/Hawk on DC's "Titans," and two "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movies (though Ritchson hated filming them). The Penguinstar Colin Farrell opens up about his early worries that the show would never happen.
Speaking to Variety, Farrell was asked if there was ever a time when he was worried that The Penguin wouldn't actually go through production. "Yeah, a couple, like the during the strike," Farrell replied. "And in a world where they can make a Batgirl film and then just can it. I don't understand it, the debits and credits and ledgers and, fucking, all that stuff, but they can decide that it's economically advantageous to just shelve a $90 million film that people have put so much effort into it. You better believe it."
"When we were in the middle of the strike, I remember saying to my sister, 'I don't know if we're gonna go back to this. I don’t know if we’re gonna finish it.' I did get nervous," Farrell continued.

In 2011, Vincent Grashaw scored. With his friends in the Coatwolf filmmaking collective, he produced the ultra-low-budget “Bellflower.” It was a breakout hit in Sundance’s Next section and Oscilloscope Laboratories snapped up the gritty, handmade portrait of toxic love and self-destruction less than a week after its premiere.
“That was when [Oscilloscope co-founder] Adam Yauch was still alive and [A24 co-founder] David Fenkel was still there,” Grashaw said. “The year we were at Sundance, I want to say 30 films sold. It was crazy.”
Being a festival breakout kicked off his career, providing access to a network of agents, managers, and general meetings.
It didn’t do a damn thing to get a movie made.
He laughed. “I don’t think I ever had somebody say yes to a pitch. I feel like in a weird way, I’m outside of the business compared to what I was back then.”

When The Penguin hit HBO, it didn’t just blend into the crowd — it strutted in with a thick Gotham accent and a trench coat full of secrets. A gritty spin-off from The Batman universe, the show zoomed in on Oz Cobb, the sneaky schemer better known as Penguin, and gave fans a front-row seat to his climb through Gotham’s shady crime world. Colin Farrell absolutely disappeared into the role, making the entire dark, bloody, and chaotic mess feel raw and addictive.
Season 1 had everything — betrayal, ambition, power plays — and viewers couldn’t look away. Even though the first season wrapped up last year, whispers about a second one just won’t stop. People want more — more Oz, more chaos, more Gotham. So far, HBO hasn’t confirmed anything, but speculation is alive and kicking. Whether it returns or not, The Penguin has definitely left its mark as one...

Colin Farrell did an excellent job playing The Penguinin the HBO crime drama series of the same name. However, the actor recently avoided answering a question about a dark aspect of the story.
During an appearance on Variety Actors on Actors with Danny DeVito, Farrell seemed uncomfortable when DeVito stated that his Penguin from Batman Returns didn't have any brothers. "I'd rather not talk about [it]," he said. "It's a touchy point... That's a touchy point in the story accused of terrible things I didn't... had no part in at all" the actor added.
In HBO's The Penguin, a follow-up to Matt Reeves' The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, a young version of Farrell's titular villain is seen playing in the underground trolley system beneath Gotham City. When his brothers taunt him by hiding in an overflow tunnel that the young Oswald cannot reach, he takes out his frustrations by locking them inside.

The Penguin proved to be a big hit for HBO and Warner Bros./DC Studios, and was met with rare levels of acclaim and awards recognition for a comic book-based project. With this in mind, a second season would seem like a foregone conclusion, but The Penguin happens to find itself in an unusual position.
Now officially listed as a limited series, The Penguin serves as a set-up for Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel, which we haven't had any official updates on in quite a while. Reports indicate that the movie's script hasn't even been completed yet, which likely hinders any potential movement on The Penguin season 2.
There's also the question of whether star Colin Farrell will even want to return as Oz Cobb. Though the actor is expected to appear in The Batman sequel, he didn't sound too overjoyed at the prospect of donning the prosthetics again during a 2024 interview.

There is perhaps no greater show from the "Golden Age" of cinematic television that weaves thematic parallels and compelling character arcs together like Sons of Anarchydoes. Immediately, Sons of Anarchy portrays a specific kind of family drama revolving around friendships and legacy that always gives the criminal aspect a unique kind of glorification. Experienced through protagonist Jax Teller's perspective, audiences become invested in the story of Samcro and their purpose as a California Biker Club. Biker clubs have always existed with admirable qualities such as honor, loyalty and commitment that aren't always present in other kinds of social groups. Of course, as biker clubs evolved into biker gangs, the organized crime element that began to overshadow the groups, made it harder for them to exist passively in the country. However, through cinematic storytelling, bikers get a specific kind of depiction that makes audiences understand them better.

After scoring a SAG award for his performance as Oswald "Oz" Cobb in HBO's The Penguin, Colin Farrell addressed whether he wants to return for a second season and the answer might come as quite the disappointment for fans of the show.

While he stipulates that if given the right story he would consider returning, the actor made it clear that he isn't interested in pursuing a second season just because the first season was a massive success.

HBO's The Penguin continues to find success during awards season, with its stars Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti racking up numerous wins and nominations. However, despite the spin-off series' overwhelming critical and viewership success, DC Studios CEOs Peter Safran and James Gunn recently provided a somewhat disappointing update on the show's future, confirming they aren't sure whether to pursue The Penguin Season 2.

Colin Farrell isn’t ruling out a second season of Max’s hit Batman spinoff series, “The Penguin.” The Irish actor, who plays Oswald “Oz” Cobb, recently won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series.
Speaking to reporters after his win, Farrell shared that he’s open to reprising his role—if the right idea comes along. “I go off [of] and agree with what [executive producers] Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark and Lauren LeFranc have said, which is, if they came up with an idea for a second season that was really strong, and we all felt compelled to continue to explore the character of Oz in that way, then for sure,” he said in the virtual press room at the SAG Awards.
Farrell made it clear that any continuation of the series would need to fit within the larger Batman universe established by Reeves.

Introduced in Robert Hall’s 2009 slasher Laid to Rest, intimidating villain Chromeskull cut a striking figure onscreen, with multi-pointed shark blades in each hand and a shiny skull mask sat atop his pitch black suit. Co-created by the man behind the mask, Nick Principe, Chromeskull has been absent from screens for the last fourteen years, though Hall attempted to craft a trilogy capper with Laid to Rest: Exhumed before his untimely death in 2021.
When we last caught up with Principe, he detailed plans to move the slasher into another medium with the upcoming comic book The Reflection of Fear. Now, he’s pushing the character further still, this time into the world of…Muay Thai fighting?!
Bloody Disgusting recently interviewed Principe and Valiant Training Center’s head coach/manager Jeff Peterson about Chromeskull’s newest ventures into the ring…and onto 100% cotton.

Taylor Sheridan has made a name for himself in the TV industry as the creator and writer of a plethora of hit shows like Yellowstone, its prequels 1883 and 1923, Special Ops: Lioness, Tulsa King, and the recent drama Landman starring Billy Bob Thornton as a Texas oil man (which even Stephen King is a fan of). His scripts also made it to the big screen with the 2015 movie Sicario and his project Hell or High Water (2016), which was nominated for four Oscars, including Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture. However, before Sheridan became a powerhouse behind the scenes, he was an aspiring actor. After a few guest spots in the mid-aughts, he finally landed a recurring role on the hit FX biker drama Sons of Anarchy.
