A television director for about a decade (including episodes for Peaky Blinders), Tim Mielants got into features with 2019’s Patrick (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival) followed by 2021’s Nobody Has to Know (a non-solo which had its world preem at TIFF). Production on the ambitious WWII drama Wil took place in May of last year in Liege and Poland featuring Stef Aerts, Matteo Simoni, Annelore Crollet, Kevin Janssens, Dirk Roofthooft, Dimitrij Schaad and Pierre Bokma. Producers include Hans Everaert, Guy Goedgezelschap, Tomas Leyers and Jan Segers.

Belgian political thriller 'Prime Minister' gets France, China deals
Loft (2008)
Koen De Bouew-starring assassination thriller has proved a hit at the Belgian box office.

The Works International has secured a raft of distribution deals for its Belgian political thriller The Prime Minister (De Premier).

The English and Flemish language feature, directed by Erik van Looy, has grossed £2.2m in its first five weeks at the Belgian Box office.

The sales company has now reached agreements in multiple countries, with Trade Media taking rights for France and DDDream securing China rights. It has also signed deals in Japan (Aya Pro), Former Yugoslavia (Discovery) and India (Viswas Films).

Negotiations in Turkey, Italy and the Middle East are entering their final phase with deals expected to be announced soon.

The film’s recent deals follow agreements previously reached in Germany (Square One), Spain (Flins Y Piniculas) and the Netherlands (Dutch Film Works).

‘The Out-Laws (aka Clan): The Complete First Season’ Review
It is fair to say that if the UK or America handled The Out-Laws (aka Clan) it would be just another Suburban Housewives. Thankfully though the Dutch have a darker sense of humour and we are treated to a tale of potential homicide where things never go to plan.

The Out-Laws is the tale of the Goethals sisters who are inseparable due to the early death of their parents. When one of the sisters marries a domineering man in the form of Jean-Claude Delcorps (Dirk Roofthooft) the bond is weakened. As Jean-Claude manipulates and ruins the lives of each of the sisters, a plan is concocted to murder the evil brother-in-law. When his death finally takes place, the question is, who actually managed to do it?

The Works International has secured a Spanish distribution deal on English and Flemish-language action-thriller The Prime Minister with Flins Y Piniculas.
