Anne O'Shea of Minerva Productions is a dear friend. J.R. has directed and built sets for her Theatre Side of Minerva.

J.R.'s directing debut was All In A Day's Work, a short film that J.R. wrote and shot with his friend and director of Photography, Nick Cocuzza.

J.R. spent 35 years in a bottle. He is a recovering alcoholic. He stopped drinking on October 8th 2012 and hasn't looked back since.

J.R. Has written 5 screen plays including the romantic comedy, Remember Yesterday and the hard hitting sexual assault film, Abraham's Conflict.

J.R. is represented by JTA, Inc.

J.R. has a Puerto Rican father and a French/Cherokee mother. He was born in Georgia but resides in his mother's hometown of Wilmington, NC.

Broadway Actor Lawrence Hamilton was dear friends with J.R. having directed J.R. in Ragtime.

J.R. is the author of a book of poetry called Things I See. It was inspired by his escape from being under the control of alcohol. "I spent a lifetime looking at things, but never really seeing them...Without the booze, I can see the beauty in things I never imagined before".

J.R. was a student of the late Lou Criscuolo, founder of Opera House Theatre Company.
