Confirmed in a 2/28/20 interview on the Movie Melt! Grindhouse and Exploitation Podcast that Carolco Pictures was already about to go under prior to L'Île aux pirates (1995) flopping. She also stated that Showgirls (1995) didn't flop financially, as it was given a limited release due to the NC-17 rating.
