[observation, August 2017] This is the inescapable fact: on November 9th the United States elected a dishonest, inept, unbalanced and immoral human being as its President and Commander-in-Chief. Trump has daily proven unyielding to appeals of decency, unity, moderation, or fact. He is willing to imperil the civil peace and the social fabric of his country, simply to satisfy his narcissism and to excite the worst inclinations of his core followers.

[observation, January 11, 2021] Donald Trump still has millions of supporters, but he is likely a spent force as a politician. The three-minute-long speech he gave on Thursday night (January 7) calling for an orderly transfer of power, was as insincere as a hostage's gunpoint confession. He may yet be impeached again, two feet from the exit door. He could return as a TV blowhard for fire, but in the future his most prominent place in public life may well be in a courtroom.
