Fred Armisen has a new album, but it’s not exactly music. The LP, entitled 100 Sound Effects, is exactly that–a wide array of sound effects ranging from a bouncing basketball to the sounds of people booing in a small theater. As a preview, he’s shared “Music Venues.”
The album is set for release on September 26th via Drag City, and is intended to “create a number of specific and evocative sounds” not typically found on more traditional sound effects records. Inspiration and additional help on 100 Sound Effects was provided by Mary Lynn Rajskub, Amber Coffman, Tim Heidecker, Riki Lindhome, and Alice Carbone Tench.

‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Mary Lynn Rajskub Is Sharing Gail the Snail’s Best Pickup Lines
Gail the Snail’s go-to move may be her infamous under-the-table hand jobs, but It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s resident Garbage Pail Cousin has a whole lot more rizz than just “mashing it,” as Frank Reynolds would say.
On Tuesday, actress Mary Lynn Rajskub headed to Instagram with a glimpse into some of Gail’s other not-so-smooth moves, offering up one of her character’s go-to pickup lines in a video seemingly clipped from a Cameo.
“It’s me, Gail,” Rajskub began the video, sporting Gail’s signature scrunchie and scowl. “Are you Wi-Fi? ‘Cause I’m totally feeling a connection.”
Punctuating her line with one of Gail’s iconic slurps, she decided to let fans be the judge of her flirting chops with a simple question: “Salt or smash?”

Over the course of 20 years on the air, Fxx's "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" has helped define the comedy landscape of the 20th century. The series has more seasons than any other live-action sitcom, and its fanbase has only snowballed in size with each passing season, thanks to its enduring nature on streaming services over the years. The ongoing misadventures of the Paddy's Pub gang have captivated viewers through 170 episodes, and it just keeps chugging along with seemingly no end in sight.
When it comes to fan-favorite episodes of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," it's quite easy to sort through. "The Nightman Cometh" is notable for its unforgettable original stage musical written by Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day) himself, and "Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games" is another highlight, being a bottle episode that showcases everything wrong with the Gang both individually and collectively. However, when it comes to some of the series' lesser efforts,...

Young adulthood is tough for just about everyone, but for Siaja (Anna Lambe), an Inuk housewife and mother in the itty bitty fictional town of Ice Cove in Nunavut, Canada's northernmost province, it's kind of brutal. For starters, her husband Ting (Kelly William) is the town's golden boy and local hero, but she's miserable in their marriage. She's trying to raise her daughter Bun (Keira Cooper) to be a proud and capable young Inuk woman, but struggles with it herself and ends up deciding to leave her husband rather spectacularly, in front of the entire town, after she almost drowns and realizes she wants more from life. In "North of North," streaming on Netflix, we get to grow with Siaja as she finds her footing on her own and navigates her relationships with her precocious daughter, her willful single mother Neevee (Maika Harper), and the rest of the people in her close-knit community.

Watching new shows on streaming is always a Russian roulette because their future is always uncertain, and it often comes with a long wait until their fate is revealed. Luckily, Netflix didn't ax a new, fresh comedy: North of North.

Following positive reviews, it quickly debuted in the Top 10 charts. A few weeks later, Netflix officially confirmed that North of North will return with Season 2.

Jeremy Lalonde, familiar for character-driven comedies, shifts sharply into darker territory with Daniel’s Gotta Die, marking Bob Saget’s final screen turn as the sly executor Lawrence. The film signals its intent from a Saul Bass–inspired title sequence that nods to mid-century thrillers, then plunges into satirical suspense.

Netflix can do something many streaming services cannot. That includes bringing us fantastic series nearly full of lesser-known actors. The success of the show is not only good for Netflix, but also for the talent involved in creating the series.
When it comes to North of North, you might only know a few of the actors. Co-creators Stacey Aglok-MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril deliver excellence based on a culture that is often overlooked. Both are Inuit, and North of North is a comedy that follows the story of Siaja in the northern Canadian town of Ice Cover, Nunavut.
The population is 2,200, and many are Inuit. This includes the fictional series, as well as many of its actors. The show was also filmed in Iqaluit, Nunavut's capital. The combination of it all, plus the warm-hearted feel of the show, equates to excellence.

Warning: This post contains minor spoilers from North of North.
There has been a trend over the last decade of creating series that feature native peoples. Thank goodness, and it is about time. Hulu's Reservation Dogs was fantastic. Dark Winds on AMC is just as good, but much darker. Recently, Netflix delivered North of North, which is much more in line with Reservation Dogs.
Part of the joy of these shows, while not always fun to watch, is getting to know the cast. Many of the actors you might have seen before, but likely only in more minor roles. Series like North of North give little-known actors from Indigenous peoples a chance to show they are worthy of being stars too.
And, yes. There are actors who you should be seeing well beyond whenever North of North ends. There is currently no known timeline for a second season, but...

Sunday featured guests galore across the stages from Addison Rae announcing an album at Arca’s set to Ty Dolla $ign transforming the Sahara tent into a star-studded jailhouse rap party with Wiz Khalifa, Tyga, Roddy Ricch among others.

It turns out falling into the Arctic Ocean while seal hunting with her clueless husband, Ting, was just the beginning for Siaja, the plucky protagonist of the new comedy series North of North.
Over the course of eight episodes, Siaja (Anna Lambe) meets her long-lost dad and watches him (maybe) rekindle things with her mom, Neevee (Maika Harper), deals with her walking Hr violation of a boss, Helen (Mary Lynn Rajskub), navigates a love triangle between her now-ex husband and work crush, and puts out more than one ill-timed dumpster fire. It seems blowing up her life was the most straightforward part of starting over.

As It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans wait with alcohol-scented breath to see what R-rated hijinks the Paddy’s Pub crew gets into during Season 17, actress Mary Lynn Rajskub is ready for anything.
Rajskub got into the slurping, mashing spirit of her FX(X) character Gail the Snail on Monday, taking to Instagram with a video of her lip-syncing along to her lines from Season Five’s “The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention.”
“Huh, jealous?” she mouthed along to the clip, tossing her blonde hair into Gail’s signature half-up hairdo. “I’m a woman now, I’m not a virgin anymore.”
Completing the transformation into her mollusk-inspired alias by taking off her jacket to reveal a tank top similar to Gail’s in the 2009 episode, Rajskub offered yet another message for fans: She may be in her 50s, but the “The Garbage Pail Cousin” is still coming into her own.

The future was looking bright for the late-night comedy show After Midnight, as it had previously secured a renewal for another season. Unfortunately for fans, it's been revealed that Season 3 won't be moving forward after all.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, After Midnight is set to end after its current second season. CBS confirmed that the final episodes of the show ill air in June with no third season in the works. Its 12:35 a.m. time slot hasn't found a new replacement at this time, and it's still unclear if the network will hold onto that hour, or if it will go back to local stations' programming. The show was recently renewed for Season 3, but After Midnight will instead conclude with Season 2 so its host, Taylor Tomlinson, can turn her focus back to her stand-up comedy.

Here's a really strange random fact about me: I grew up with emetophobia, the intense fear of vomit and vomiting. The very idea of blowing chunks got my anxiety going, which is what makes my deep, abiding love for "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" kind of hilarious. You see, there is a lot of vomiting, gagging, and spitting up on "It's Always Sunny." There are some amazing puke-filled moments, of course, like Charlie (Charlie Day) spewing all over his date because he swallowed fake blood capsules, or Dennis (Glenn Howerton) barfing while dancing because he did a bunch of shots rapid-fire. It turns out that in the right circumstances, vomit can be really funny, and in the case of "It's Always Sunny," the funniest yakking usually comes courtesy of Sweet Dee, played by Kaitlin Olson.

Alan Tudyk almost played Michael Scott, bringing a quirky and chaotic energy to the office manager role. Mary Lynn Rajskub could have made pam more sarcastic and edgy, offering a unique chemistry with Jim. Matt Besser's audition hints at a more bizarre and competitive Dwight Schrute, adding absurdity to the role.
The Office's ensemble cast of characters is iconic, but many now-famous actors also auditioned for those roles. Before Steve Carell, John Krasinski, and Jenna Fischer brought Michael, Jim, and Pam to life, the casting process churned through a pool of hopeful actors, each aiming to leave their mark on the beloved sitcom. The Office, with its unique blend of humor, heart, and awkwardness, became a cultural phenomenon, but its journey to television screens was paved with auditions that shaped its iconic characters.

Surprisingly Guru Nation has been canceled by Paramount+ due to unclear reasons. David Cross expressed confusion over Paramount+'s unexpected decision to cancel the show despite positive initial feedback and well-thought-out plans. The cancelation highlights the influence of industry marketing and analytics departments in determining which projects move forward, disappointing fans of Bob Odenkirk and David Cross.
Bob Odenkirk and David Cross were set to have a Mr. Show with Bob and David reunion in the new mockumentary comedy Guru Nation, but it seems the series has been canceled for reasons that one of its stars does not quite understand. The show, which was originally announced in 2022, would have seen Odenkirk and Cross as dueling cult leaders and already had prepared scripts drafted when Paramount surprisingly pulled the plug on the project.

Mary Lynn Rajskub and Jay Ryan have boarded the Netflix, CBC and Aptn comedy North of North, which has started production in Nunavut in northern Canada.
Rajskub played Chloe O’Brian on the long-running 24 drama and also starred in the comedy Night School with Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish and Mayfield Games with Mira Sorvino. Ryan is a veteran of New Zealand soaps and series like Mary Kills People and Beauty and the Beast.
Other new cast members for North of North include Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, Kelly William, Zorga Qaunaq, Doreen Simmonds and Tanya Tagaq. They join the previously-announced lead Anna Lambe, who plays young Inuk mother Siaja, with Keira Cooper, a 7 year-old actress from Iqaluit, Nunavut, playing her daughter Bun.
Siaja wants to build a new future for herself, not easily done in her small Arctic town where everyone knows your business, according to a synopsis for North of North from the producers.
