Henry Winkler and Chrissy Teigen Go K.A.M.P-ing at Hammer Museum Fundraiser
Image
Hundreds of parents and children gathered in the Hammer Museum’s courtyard on Sunday morning for its annual Kids’ Art Museum Project (K.A.M.P.) fundraiser.

The Westwood museum utilized its outdoor space to host stations featuring art projects, Annie Campbell food, and music by DJ Reprise and kids band The Sunday Dreamers. A highlight of the day was several children’s storytime readings with celebrity guests Henry Winkler, Chrissy Teigen and Crystal Kung Minkoff. Author Kelly Yang also read to the crowd of children.

Winkler kicked off the reading by introducing his grandchildren to the crowd. The 78-year-old read from three of the books he’s co-authored and introduced the children to his book series, Detective Duck, pausing at times to show the crowd the book’s illustrations. The actor even shared a chapter from the latest Detective Duck book, which is expected to be released later this month.

‘Thirteen Reasons Why’ Author Jay Asher Sues Children’s Book Society Over Sex Allegations
Jay Asher
The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the group’s executive director are being sued by Thirteen Reasons Why author Jay Asher, alleging they never properly investigated sexual harassment complaints against him and torpedoed his career with false and defamatory statements.

The lawsuit, first reported by the New York Times, was filed in California State Court in Los Angeles and contends that exonerating evidence was ignored by the organization.

Thirteen Reasons Why was a 2007 bestselling book on teenage suicide that later became a cultural phenomenon when it was adopted into a Netflix series.

Asher and illustrator David Diaz were expelled at the same time last year from the writers organization over allegations of sexual harassment.

“Both Jay Asher and David Diaz were found to have violated the Scbwi code of conduct in regard to harassment,” said Lin Oliver, the organization’s executive director, in an email to the Associated Press.

’13 Reasons Why’ Author Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Writers’ Group After Misconduct Accusation
Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford in 13 Reasons Why (2017)
“13 Reasons Why” author Jay Asher has filed a lawsuit against the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the writers’ group’s executive director, Lin Oliver, for making what he says are false and defamatory statements about him that have damaged his reputation and career, after he was accused of sexual misconduct last year.

According to the lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court last week and obtained by TheWrap, Oliver issued a statement to the Associated Press last February that said the organization conducted an “investigation” and that Asher was “found to have violated the Scbwi code of conduct in regard to harassment.” The suit says those statements were false and Asher is seeking monetary damages for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Butaccording to Asher’s suit, the Scbwi did not conduct an investigation, and the author did not violate the Scbwi code of conduct.

Henry Winkler stars in new Cbbc show Hank Zipzer - first pictures
The first pictures from Henry Winkler's new Cbbc show Hank Zipzer have been released.

The actor, best known for playing The Fonz in Happy Days, will star in the children's show which is inspired by his own upbringing.

Winkler said: "This series is certainly inspired by my childhood and the experiences I had because I learned differently to other people – but it's a comedy first. The emotion is completely relatable but we exaggerate the humour.

"When I was young, teachers and other people used to tell me I'd never achieve anything because I'm in the bottom three percent academically in America.

"I never thought I'd be able to write books, let alone to have them made into a TV show. Outside of having my children, the Hank Zipzer series makes me incredibly proud."

Winkler plays music teacher Mr Rock (Winkler's real-life teacher) alongside Nick James as Henry 'Hank' Zipzer.

Henry Winkler’s ‘Royal Pains’ Character Mysterious Even to Him
By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith

hollywoodnews.com: Henry Winkler says even he doesn’t know whether his new series character — Eddie, the mysterious wayward father on the USA Network’s “Royal Pains” — is a good-hearted finagler or someone more sinister.

Eddie was talked about last season by his estranged sons (Mark Feuerstein and Paulo Costanzo) on the popular series about a concierge doctor to the very rich. Viewers know that, thanks to his gullible younger son, Eddie has taken money from their HankMed company and claims he’ll give it back. On Thursday’s (6/10) episode, he’ll get even deeper into his sons’ world.

“I was invited into the writers’ room to chat about the character. Nobody knew who Eddie was; they had an impression of him,” Winkler tells us. “We talked about him a little bit. Now he grows as we watch the dailies. I’ve found...

Party Favors: Not The Fonz
Milwaukee - Henry Winkler is not the Fonz.

He played the coolest guy on Happy Days for eleven seasons. But he doesn’t wear a leather jacket, ride a motorcycle or fix things by bumping them with his elbow. He’s not even Italian. He’s got a life that has gone beyond the Fonz. There’s probably a generation that knows him better for Adam Sandler movies and Arrested Development. On a May evening at the Quail Ridge bookstore in Raleigh, there is a group of kids under 12 years old that know him as the author of the Hank Zipzer books (along with co-writer Lin Oliver).

Many stars of the ’70s sell their tawdry memoirs of behind the scenes perversions. Winkler created a young adult book series that taps into grade school life instead of the action in Arnold’s bathroom. We’ll have to wait for lurid tales of the Hooper triplets.
