Biographie

She is a direct descendant of Captain James Lawrence of the War of 1812 who cried "Don't give up the ship!.".

She was a supporter of the Sir Tyrone Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota and their Actor Training Program.

Daughter of the late Paul J. Murphy Jr. MD, a psychiatrist and Dimitria Sarhanis Murphy, a former ballet dancer from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Carlos H. Schenck MD of the Minnesota Regional Sleep Disorders Center and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.; her sister, Sheila Murphy Moar and her husband, James Moor of St. Paul, MInnesota; her niece Amanda Murphy and her nephew, Zachary Murphy; her brother, Douglas Paul Murphy MD (Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University in Ivy, Virginia with his wife, Elaine Murphy; children Kali Murphy and Max Murphy of Ivy, Virginia.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio but she was raised in Princeton, New Jersey where she graduated from Princeton High School in Princeton, New Jersey. She graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree.
