Produced by La MaMa and Carol Ostrow of Stop the Wind Theatricals, the play will be directed by Mark Wing-Davey, with previews beginning September 19 and an opening set for September 28. The staging will be a limited engagement.

Update: Just kidding: Presumed Innocent star Ruth Negga will submit in Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actress — not lead as previously announced — at the Emmys.

The switch comes a day before the Emmy submission deadline on Thursday.

Negga, who plays Jake Gyllenhaal's wife Barbara Sabich on the Apple TV+ limited series, had moved to lead on April 30, surprising pundits and awards fans. Things might not be all sunshine and rainbows when the 2-7 and the 1-6 join forces again in the upcoming Law & Order crossover. This Thursday's crossover between Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, "Play With Fire" parts 1 and 2 will bring the 27th and 16th precincts together after the murder of a woman with personal ties to Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). According to Law & Order showrunner, Rick Eid, the crossover will inevitably see Benson and Maura Tierney's Lieutenant Jessica Brady butting heads. He tells TVInsider:

“Benson and Brady have the same goal,” Eid explains, “but may not always arrive at it in the same way.”

The possibility of a conflict between Benson and Brady is more apparent in Svu's crossover promo, rather than in the one for Law & Order. In the promo for "Play With Fire" part 2, Benson seemingly says to Brady "sometimes you have to ask for forgiveness instead of permission.

Noting they made the movie before Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election to Donald Trump, the Oscar winner can see “probably in hindsight” how her butt-kicking politician character President Danielle Sutton might make voters long for what could have been.

“I do not think it’s a suspension of disbelief to imagine someone who looks like me as the president,” Davis told UK’s The Times.

Davis also explained why President Sutton’s political party is never clarified in the film. “If you get down to the nitty gritty, we just wanna reach people,” she said of the movie, hitting theaters April 10.

While catching up with Entertainment Weekly, during the worldwide premiere of her new action thriller G20, Davis revealed that she's a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that she would would happily join that world, if the opportunity presented itself.

"Yeah, absolutely. I don't know what hero I would be, you know. I just, my daughter is a Marvel fanatic, so I've watched, I think almost all of them five, six times."

Asked to pick a possible role, the Oscar-winner joked, "Probably an Iron Man. I would be — maybe Iron Mania? Iron Shaniqua Mania?"

Exclusive: Season 1 of Apple TV+’s legal thriller Presumed Innocent will compete in the Limited or Anthology Series categories at the 2025 Emmy Awards. The designation has been approved by the TV Academy, sources said.

It comes after Presumed Innocent was submitted as a drama series for the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, earning star Jake Gyllenhaal a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series, Drama. The show also is being featured in various drama category Emmy prognostications.

The reason for the switch is the evolution Presumed Innocent took over the last few months. The show started off as a limited series adaptation of Scott Turow’s bestselling novel of the same name with no blueprint for a second season.

The movie tells the unsettling story of a woman, played by Suvari, who takes in her estranged sister (Marvel). Her sister is the only survivor of a mass cult suicide, and what starts as a hopeful reunion quickly turns into a nightmare. As her sister’s dark influence grows, the woman and her husband (Ulrich) find their lives spiraling into terror.

Bosner, known for producing Fruitvale Station and Black Bear, is directing and writing Devoted, which is based on his short film Devotee. The short premiered at the 2024 HollyShorts Film Festival and was also featured at Beyond Fest.
