Attending West Virginia University (2006).

Announced that she's expecting a daughter who will be delivered by scheduled Caesarean section because of medical concerns about the spinal fractures she suffered while a POW. Her daughter Dakota Ann Robinson, born at 7 lbs and 10 oz on January 19, 2007, was named after her mother's late friend Lori, who died while in combat in Iraq; the father is her boyfriend Wesley "Wes" Robinson.

Has one brother, Gregory "Greg", and a younger sister.

She is a 5th-grade teacher in West Virginia.
