Review: Jonny Quest: The Complete Series
On September 18, 1964, a serious animated adventure series, demonstrating cartoons didn’t have to always be comical such as The Flintstones (still airing then on ABC). Instead, Jonny Quest captured the sense of exploration Americans were longing for thanks to the Mercury astronauts and the rising tide of espionage films, headed by James Bond. However, Jonny was a young boy, making him an ideal feature for the Friday at 7:30 p.m. slot.

While the 26 episodes are all that were produced, the show’s overall quality proved influential to subsequent generations of animators, comic book storytellers, and audiences. It has pretty much remained in syndication for the last forty years. Jonny Quest remained the benchmark for dramatic animated fare for decades, enjoying brief runs as a comic book (notably Comico’s 1980s run).

The series has been collected and polished to a brilliant shine on a just-released Jonny Quest: The Complete Series Blu-ray from Warner Archives,...

An Interview with Blair Underwood and Virginia Madsen (Video)

After long very long wait, The Event returned last week for the second half of season one. We spoke with series' star Blair Underwood and newest cast member Virginia Madsen about the show and life beyond earth.

Fans of the show may have noticed a few changes — first and foremost no more flashbacks. Blair talked about the shift in style noting, "A lot of viewers felt that it was hard to follow and complicated."

Madsen, a fan of the show before joining the cast, interjected, "I liked that part." But Underwood explained that the use of flashbacks from here on in will be minimal and that the story will now be told in a more linear fashion.

But one thing about the show that will not change is the constant twists and turns in the plot. Both actors admitted that they like to see the...

The Event (2010)
‘The Event,’ Season 1, Episodes 11-12, ‘And Then There Were More’ and ‘Inostranka’: TV Recap
The Event (2010)
Photo by Adam Rose – © NBC Universal, Inc. Taylor Cole and Sarah Roemer in “The Event.”

It’s back. I’m talking about ‘The Event,” the second half of its first season, to be exact. There are two episodes to recap, so let’s jump right in.

The first hour, “And Then There Were More”, picks up pretty much where the last episode (remember that?) left off: Thomas, the alien who has rebelled against his mother Sophia, has sent a message to his home planet.

'The Event': Was it worth the three-month wait for you?
The return of "The Event" to NBC Monday night was billed as a relaunch of the series, with the implication that the two-hour episode could bring some new viewers in while keeping the hook in for those who have been with the show since the fall.

But if you were just coming to the show, I hope you paid very close attention to the "previously on" -- because if you weren't already up to speed on much of what was happening, it's hard to see these two episodes making a ton of sense. (Perhaps this will help you.) Heck, even as someone who watched all the fall episodes and wrote about most of them, I found myself going back to old notes more than once.

On the upside, "The Event" did move things forward on several fronts -- most notably in revealing Thomas' plan -- in these episodes. Had "And...

The Event Returns: What Did You Think?
The two hour return of The Event brought us right into the thick of Thomas' plan and answered many questions we were left with from the winter finale.

In the first couple minutes of "And Then There Were More," we learned that the signal Thomas sent out was to inform his people that they were preparing for their arrival.

Blake is not an idiot and quickly realized that this meant Thomas planned the arrival of their kind as a form of attack on our world. Therefore, he volunteered to oversee the questioning of the prisoners.

A part of me really would love to hate Blake, I would definitely want a man like him in our Presidential cabinet. Blake has proved time and time again that he is as loyal as they come. A true patriot.

The second hour of The Event, "Inostranka," mainly focused on Blake's and Thomas' visit to the prison facility.

News: Next Gh Tragedy, Ellen Dolan, Mekhi Phifer, Patrick Gibbons
Scoop on the Next General Hospital Tragedy

ABC's General Hospital will kick off the new year by sending its young ones — ranging in age from tots to teenagers — on a Christmas vacation bus trip to snow country. That bus is forced to take an unplanned route due to weather trouble and will skid on black ice and flip over during the December 29 cliffhanger. When the show returns January 3, the bus will plummet down a steep ravine, thanks to some cool CGI tricks.

Says executive producer Jill Farren Phelps. "There will be death. In fact, two people die — one immediately and one later on as a result of an injury."

Mekhi Phifer Set As Lead On Torchwood

Phifer is set to star opposite John Barrowman and Eve Myles in the upcoming fourth season of sci-fi drama.

Virginia Madsen to Recur on The Event
When The Event returns on February 28, it will feature a new, familiar face.

Veteran actress Virginia Madsen has been cast in a recurring role on the struggling NBC drama. She'll portray Catherine Lewis, the widow of a U.S. senator from Alaska, who is focused on carrying out her husband's legacy.

At any cost.

Madsen most recently appeared on ABC's Scoundrels. But fans of The Event might not be discouraged by that show's fate: it was canceled after one abbreviated season.
