She was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Live Theatre at 6211 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.

Nominated for Broadway's Tony Award as Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role (Musical) as the original "Maria" in "West Side Story" (1958). Winner of the Theater World award in 1958 for the same role.
