In 1955, she graduated from the Acting Department of the State Theater School in Kraków , where she studied with, among others, Jerzy Grotowski and Alina Obidniak .

She was an actress at the Young Audience Theater in Krakow (1955-1957) and the Theater. Juliusz Osterwa in Lublin (1957-1959).

Zofia Kucówna was a Polish theater and film actress, teacher and writer .

She died at the Home of Veteran Artists of Polish Stages in Skolimów ( Konstancin-Jeziorna ).

Her most important theater roles included Nora in Henryk Ibsen's A Doll's House (1958), The Bride in Stanislaw Wyspianski's The Wedding (1963), Sonia in Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1964), Mrs. Wasowska in Mr. Wokulski based on The Doll by Boleslaw Prus (1967). , Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare's Hamlet with Daniel Olbrychski in the title role (1970), Lady Macbeth in Macbeth (1972), Phaedra in Racine's Phaedra (1977) and Jean Horton in Harwood's Quartet (2000).

On December 22 , 2008, she received the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture, Gloria Artis, from the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage , Tomasz Merta .

She performed as a guest at the National Philharmonic (1971), the National Theater in Helsinki (1986), the Dramatic Theater (1991), the Ochota Theater (1995, 2006) and the Komedia Theater (2008).

In 1959, she began working with the Television Theater , where she played dozens of roles.

In 1998 she was awarded with the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.

In 2003, she left her handprint on the Promenade of Stars in Miedzyzdroje .

On November 26 1955, she made her debut at the Young Audience Theater in Krakow in the show Ballads and Romances , based on Adam Mickiewicz , directed by Halina Gallowa .

She also worked as a teacher, lecturing poetry at the Acting Department of the "Theater Academy Aleksander Zelwerowicz" in Warsaw.

She published several widely read biographical and memoir books: Zaciec Czas (1990), Zdarzenia potoczne (1993), Zapach szminki (2000), Szara Czasu (2012) and a collection of columns Opowiesci Moje (2000).

In 1990 she received the "Main Award" at the 30th Kalisz Theater Meetings in Kalisz for her role in Letycja and Lubczyk.

For many years she was involved in the activities of the Association of Polish Stage Artists , especially the Actor's House in Skolimów.
