- Jones' first husband was an officer in the Merchant Marines. The couple had son Denny in 1945, followed by Tim in 1947. Her second husband was screenwriter Bill Davenport.
- She was originally cast to play Becky Thatcher in Les aventures de Tom Sawyer (1938), but after a growth spurt, the studio thought she was too tall for the role and recast her as Mary Sawyer.
