This Flemish sitcom is about the intertwined private and professional life of René Verschoten, a dodgy independent garage-manager who stops at nothing to gain or save money. He considers his wife Magda, who dreams of socialite standing but is never at the height of her service-club friend Hélène, and son (hence the title) Sven -who leaves the series rather soon- essentially as financial drains, but also involves them in his dubious, usually back-firing schemes, as well as his staff: Kristof, a very zealous but dumb mechanic, his secretary, cleaning lady and general household help Conny and after Sven's departure in-living cousin and lazy mechanic Kevin.

The story follows the childhood of Jozef 'Piften' Vantorre. Togheter with his brothers and sister, he forms a clan named 'de Kavijaks'.

Norbert has had extra security installed and joined a neighborhood watch. When Matthijs offers a place to sleep to a dangerous looking fellow, he calls his fellow watchman Ronnie.

Norbert is competing in the local elections as an independent candidate, but cannot count on Matthijs nor Suus' vote.

Norbert is dating a much younger woman he met at work. Naturally Matthijs and Suus want to find out all about her.

Matthijs exams are coming up and he is been telling so many lies at school all year that he and his pals are confident that they will easily get through every test by cheating.

Norbert is in the running for a promotion. To make him even more nervous, Matthijs has taken a job as an intern at his father's firm.
