It's been a while since seeing the first movie, so I wasn't expecting much watching Old Guard 2. Yet somehow the plot seemed lacking in a very strange way.
Besides the obvious weak plot, why did so much of this movie seemed rushed and forced? Why did big character moments not actually have a transition scene to understand their significance!?
There was something strangely odd about the editing choices as well. With weird moments of ADR, uncomfortable digital zooms and bland 2009 era digital set design. Plus it all wrapped up in a very underwhelming non-conclusion.
Despite this, I did watch the whole thing and it would be nice to know how this whole story wraps up. Hopefully we won't have as long of a wait.

I've been aware of this movie since it's release, but hadn't watched it for those 13 years. Perhaps that's contributed to the odd feeling, the dated essence of the odd editing choices. The slow fade with no musical transition between scenes was grating and very much an odd outdated choice.
Still though, it was a decent movie. Obviously, the standout factor was the incredible animation and CGI implemented on the tiger (as well as many other animals). The trippy island scene and night bioluminescence really added to the vibes in a cultural rich story, though still light on plot. I don't quite see the enlightenment others seem to be claiming, but it was certainly a unique film.

I appreciated the trailer didn't give too much away, going into this with minimal expectations and being pleasantly rewarded.
Miles Teller and Anna Taylor Joy deliver a excellent thriller romance and a world touched by intrigue and horror. Cold War and WWII backdrops serve up a creepy world locked in time with something unknown always around the next skeleton tree.
Our two characters consistently showing up for each other, keeping the story engaging as we rooted for their possible reuniting.
Ballistics and defense systems lend well to visual effects which are not over the top, contributing to the action once it starts. All of this followed by a clever soundtrack, keeping the time ticking. Don't miss this one.
