I bought this movie because I liked the trailer, which I saw as an extry in another movie's DVD. It actually seemed really interesting and funny, and with a hot guy in it, and it had quite a different plot for a gay movie, so I decided to buy it. The movie drags on, it's not entertaining enough. There are a number of very funny scenes, especially the last one, very reminiscent of classic cop movies, the mother, etc but these are not even well made and just make you yearn for the originals. I could not wait for it to be over. It's really pretty boring. One special note: the lighting is horrible. For instance the very first scene at Pip's, it looks like there was no lighting at all for a movie and they were relying on the (bad) spot lighting in the room. It could have been better. PS: how on earth are there so many stellar reviews on here??
I can't find any faults in this movie. I love it. I think that nobody here pretends that this is a serious movie. Even the last scene with a wink proves it. I can't think of a boring scene in this movie, because each scene is not long enough to bore the viewer. It's great to look at, the settings, the locations, the color, the costumes, the camp factor is under control, lots of casual cameos don't ruin it, and there's even a great funny gag reel at the end. I'm not a fan of Gwyneth Paltro or Mike Myers, and I still love the movie. Plus you've got fun sexy Christina Applegate, icon Candice Bergen, Kelly Preston who seems to burst out of her costumes.... A very entertaining movie!
I picked this up for about 5 bucks. I like Jessica Simpson visually, read the plot, and I love these kinds of movies. I admit I was a bit disappointed that the script is not only totally by-the-book, but it's very unoriginal and leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth with situations that are really silly. That said, it wasn't so bad, I don't mind bad acting if there are redeeming features in a movie, and I guess I found enough here. I would have expected more from a Marshall film. You'd think that if not for genes that run in the family (Garry and Penny, the latter making an appearance in the Marina Group), for the pure exposure to great comedies would help anyone from them making a better movie.
