Widower Honora Swift (Gena Rowlands) lives on an island in Puget Sound with her mother, daughters Georgie Symonds (Holly Hunter) and Clare (Frances McDormand). Georgie is married to Nick Symonds (Bill Pullman). The ladies have always stayed behind while their men go off to their jobs. Nick flies to Seattle every day. The marriage hits a few road bumps. Georgie falls for photographer Mark Constable (Julian Sands).

This TNT movie has plenty acting power. Maybe it has too much and the movie feels scattered among them. This wants to be about the marriage and it also wants to be about the mother daughter relationships. The tension could be higher especially with the marriage. The story keeps pulling back from blowing it all up. It is still nice to see all these great actors.

A plane crashes in the jungle. A sole surviving baby is found. Tarzan (Johnny Weissmuller) and Jane (Maureen O'Sullivan) name him Boy (Johnny Sheffield) and raise him as their own. Five years later, three outsiders come searching for survivors.

There is some action and some actual plot. The action is fine. I'm not completely sold on some of the plot turns. Maureen O'Sullivan does well enough to sell them. They are introducing Johnny Sheffield as Greystoke. The fact that he sticks around is a compliment to the casting. This serves its purpose.

It's the turn of the century Beijing. China, under the rule of the Dowager Queen, is besieged by Western powers. She decides to hold a Dancing Lion competition to showcase China's physical prowess. Wong Fei-Hung (Jet Li) and sidekick Chung arrive and meet up with 13th Aunt (Rosamund Kwan). They find the Cantonese Association ransacked and his father injured by Clubfoot.

This is mostly good. I like Jet Li and Rosamund Kwan. It's a cute romance. Jet Li is doing a more traditional character. I like his jealousy over the Russian. I would rather not have the Russian turn full villain, but it is a way to amp up the drama. The final battle is rather chaotic. I couldn't tell one lion from another. I thought they would do it tournament style with Jet Li facing off against Clubfoot in the final battle. That would have been better. This has some good fun in the first half and I stayed engaged until the end.
