I had a hard time getting engaged with this film.
There are way too many "main" characters. And the portrayal fo any "role" is perhaps explained in 30 seconds, once.. it's VERY easy to lose track of individual character motivations. And there's A LOT, A LOT of dialog. The story is rather simple at face value - smuggle drugs from Canada... but it comes across as a convoluted mess which is hard to follow as a story.
This, to me, is far more a "scene" film - where some scenes may be interesting and perhaps a little humorous, but as a whole it *felt* like it was all dialog with VERY little actual activity scenes. I didn't keep an eye on any clock, but it seemed like 20 minutes of dialog from myriad different characters, followed by 3 minutes of activity.. then back to dialog.
Meh.. this film just couldn't hold my interested, and due to that, I didn't find it funny either.

It's a Marvel movie, just like all other Marvel movies.
Special effects are great. But the story is largely predicable and after the first 10 minutes, any *new* character's actins/motivations also become predictable.
So it all plays out EXACTLY like any other Marvel movie. Even the after-credit "teasers" have become predictable.
Marvel has a FORMULA for these films and, man, do they adhere to that formula in all their movies.
There's nothing unique here. Nothing you really haven't seen before in a Marvel movie.
NORMAL THINKING humans.. would be in the location where Bob shows up and think to themselves.. "Hmmmm, if he's HERE, there MUST be a reason for it." As opposed to ignoring him as if he were a homeless guy intruding upon them.
With all that posted.. it is a decent "popcorn" flick. It won't make you think too much and does move along at a relatively decent (but predicable) pace.
------------ Meh ---------- like all Marvel movies now.

Started this and immediately thought "Wow, that's horrible!" - referring to the music during the title sequence.
I can't think of how a producer/director could possibly make something LESS attractive from the jump. The opening music sets the tone for the upcoming program. In this case, ouch. Seems the tone they want to set is one of slow, mournful, drudgery which lacks any excitement or sense of life itself. Basically depression in music form. I think they read the lyrics (read, not listened to) and failed to see the big picture for the title song.
After watching the first 2 episodes.. yeah opening sequence setting the tone may be fitting. Drudgery.
There's so, so, so much backstory for the detective (Smollett) in the first two episodes. Contrasted heavily by only one "flashback" of one setting for the fire investigator (Egerton). This striking difference did not go unnoticed.
I won't include any spoilers, but the "reveal" at the end of episode two wasn't really as shocking as I think it was meant to be.
There are aspects of the two main characters that just seem, well, B-movie-esk. Like they are so over-the-top, uhm, odd or ridiculous - for lack of a better phrase - that they just throw suspension of disbelief out the window at times.
Not a great start.

Episode 3 confirmed my initial assessment... it's a "nothing show". Trying so hard to be "deep and meaningful" but it falls terribly short.
Not watching any more. There's no point.
