In order for the film to grip you, you need to focus and be interested in something else. Otherwise, you will feel its stagnation. If you focus, it flows.

It is a psychologically heavy drama, the reason I deducted points is because I would have liked to have taken a general look at Spain at that time from a visual perspective and watched a visual feast by giving a little more space to the patriarchal vandalism of that period, but it is a pity that it was a limited production and locations, other than that it conveys the intended subject.

It is a great disappointment that a series with an impressive storytelling such as "The Queen's Gambit" is overshadowed by unnecessary sexual scenes. Although the main subject of the series is based on chess, intelligence, strategy and personal struggle, unnecessary romantic and sexual scenes are added to weaken the power of the main story. Such scenes do not contribute significantly to the character development or the progress of the story. On the contrary, they distract the audience from the main subject and give the impression that they were added with artificial and commercial concerns.

Especially, while the development of a deep character like Beth Harmon, her addictions and chess genius should be at the forefront, her relationships and sexuality are emphasized more than necessary. As in many productions with female leads, here too, the private life and sexuality of the character are emphasized rather than her success. This harms the seriousness of the series. In a production that deals with a subject that requires discipline and reasoning such as chess, the presence of such unnecessary scenes is to an extent that will disturb the audience.

If these scenes were removed, the series would not lose anything, on the contrary, it could have a much more impressive and deep story. However, as is often seen in today's productions, sexuality is used as a tool to attract the audience's attention. This choice was a great loss in artistic terms for "The Queen's Gambit". If a truly quality production was to be produced, the essence of the story should have been preserved instead of such unnecessary elements. Unfortunately, I think the series could not reach the level it should have been due to these unnecessary choices.

I think it is the best visual effects, original script and plot development science fiction/fantasy movie I have ever watched. I think a movie with such high quality visual effects should only get a 10/10 IMDb score. I have difficulty understanding those who gave this movie a low score. It is even a masterpiece that you will never regret. You should definitely watch it and this is necessary for more productions with such high quality visual effects. Nowadays, visual effects in other movies are disgraceful, they are simply conveyed without respect for the audience. But this movie is unique in terms of visual effects and is proof of how amateur other movies are made.
