This movie is about trying to identify a hiker whose body is found dead and emaciated in his tent. A bunch of bad internet sleuths and people that encountered him on his journeys try to figure out who he is. The "sleuths" act like they solved the biggest crime in the world and the people that encountered him on the trail act like he was a lifelong friend they lost. How do you judge who or what someone is from a brief encounter on a trail? He was ultimately identified from Facebook. The people involved in this movie had nothing to do with his life. This movie didn't have any of his family in it. The movie tried to romanticize him, but he was not someone even worthy of a movie trying to figure out who he was. By the time you find out who he is, you have wasted 1 1/2 hours to find it that it really didn't matter. All of the people that met him on trails didn't know him any better than someone you'd have a conversation with in Walmart. They weren't friends enough to even find out the basic info about him such as his name and where he came from. Very disappointing watch.
I was excited to watch this movie and boy, was I disappointed. It was predictable as to where it was going to lead and then when it got there, there were so many poor decisions made by the psychic team, they kind of deserved what they got. The last scene was utterly stupid. I hope they didn't do that to keep it open for a part 2, because this one was a huge failure. My one big question for the movie is, don't all security systems come with a panic button? That's the number one thing I would look for if I were to get in a situation where I needed police to come and needed to do it quickly. I'm so glad I didn't have to pay to see this movie.
