This is a movie about grotesque and heartbreaking circumstances. It allows its subjects to speak to their own experiences and uses documents to corroborate their stories and the role in the institution that is focused upon. My criticism is regarding the lack of expert on-screen interviews. No medical professional or expect on grooming, sexual abuse, etc. Gives context to the abuse, the shame around it, what these people must have gone through. All of this is offered through the subjects themselves which is compelling however leaves me wondering if it makes the film more editorial (regardless of fact) rather than a documentary on the subject. I hope these survivors find peace.
At times a fun romp - I cannot tell you why this movie drags sometimes scene to scene. Actors are pretty good. To enjoy it you'll have to ignore the fact that the bad guys dress like swat or spy rejects while trying to blend in at an airport.
The cinematography is good. It's better made than many streaming films these days. And the script although not brilliant, is not as cringy as most Netflix movies.
Taron and Jason seem like they are having fun. The rest of the cast is reasonable.
Plot holes there are few which once again is a small miracle for a Netflix movie these days. I'd call this movie enjoyable if you turn off your brain.

I wish the filmmakers could see beyond their disgust for one person enough to explore the broad scope of this. Understandings of Consent, the BdSM community itself and a history of Armie Hammer himself are all missing from this piece. Sadly it undermines the presentation and makes it feel like an editorial for victims and their disgust for the lifestyle. I feel sorry for the BDSM community who understands consent and what that entails. I also feel sorry for the filmmakers who were unable to look beyond their own bias and discomfort for what for some is a conceptual fantasy created equally with two concerning adult partners.
